UFC 138: Leben vs. Munoz Date: Nov 05, 2011 Location: Birmingham, England Venue: LG Arena at the National Exhibition Centre Broadcast: Spike TV (same-day delay) Chris Leben vs. Mark Munoz Renan Barao vs. Brad Pickett Anthony Njokuani vs. Paul Taylor Papy Abedi vs. Thiago Alves Terry Etim vs. Edward Faaloloto John Hathaway vs. Pascal Krauss Michihiro Omigawa vs. Jason Young Chris Cope vs. Che Mills James Head vs. Mark Scanlon Chris Cariaso vs. Vaughan Lee Philip De Fries vs. TBA The more i look at this card the more of an insult to UK fans I think it is. Most pre-lims are better than this. And even fight for troops! I will go as never been to event before but wonder if price will reflect quality of card. I understand they were not gonna come to UK this year as they have marquee events either side of this but come on this is a weak card. Im grateful to see UK fighters throughout but surely these should be sprinkled in across other pre-lims. Hathaway fight should be good & leben always likes a tear up. I wonder if they will stick another fight on here to try and grab a bigger audience! I am a hardcore MMA fan and follow at all levels but I am frankly unhappy with the card and it does nothing to pull the casual fan in anymore! Opinions please
Its the UK bro, i was at 120 and 105, 105 was a decent card but 138 is an absolute joke, no need for so many British fighters, i will not be attending this one!
I do believe that no card is a bad card until it has actually happened but come on, this card is ****. I can't justfy ticket money, train and a hotel for a Leben Munoz main event. As mentioned most previous card pre-lims are better. I just fear that as the UFC gets bigger this may be the type of card we have to get use to. They simply dont have enough big name fighters to satisfy the demand in America, Canada, Europe and now Brazil and Asia.
Well my fingers are crossed they add summit to this. Guess we will wait and see. The fights may be brilliant but we do not have anyone on the card who is even near title contention
Its a good point, the main reason they bought strikeforce was to have access to more fighters so they can put more fights on worldwide, unfortunatly if your not able to get to the states, the chances of seeing a half decent card are pretty slim.
I would not have minded pissbin being on the card - it would have made it better than it is purely based on the fact pissbin beat the headliner! If watson had not of pulled out of trigg fight the bamma card probably would have been better on value & quality. The only saving grace is hathaway. I still beleive they will add summit to this card - maybe an injury from UFC137/139 will free someone up and liven this card up.
Bisping is gonna get worked over by mayhem miller and hopefully that will put an end to his career in the ufc.
I can only see Bisping jabbing his wat to a UD in this one. Miller is too small compared to Bisping and his takedown defence is too good.
Pascal Krauss has pulled outta hathaway fight & Matt Brown will step in. Should be an easy nights work for hathaway but he made a meal outta McCray in his last outting!
Surly there are enough wieght divisions to give every card a title fight, title eliminator, or number 1 contender match? Even if its just to please the crowd.
Well I see that sanchez has dropped outta the co main with Hughes. I think hughes could slot into UK card and surely hathaway could drop a little extra weight and take that fight - if hathaway one that he would propel into top end of division!
Looks like Kos will fight hughes now! Tickets for birmingham go on sale this week - £50 - £220 http://mmajunkie.com/news/25100/ufc-138-tickets-on-sale-this-week-range-from-50-to-225.mma
Well I just got my self a VIP ticket (next to ring) - Came to £100 including fees. Is anyone off to this event besides me and dana white?
^^^^ £100 didnt get you VIP & Ring Side did it? I paid £100 & was halfway up. £250 for cageside!!!!
Sadly not - seat wave contacted me two days beore and said they could not source the ticket. Ended up paying 160 and I was half way up the side - not bad seat though.
id love to go vegas to see some of the big guys...silva, gsp, jones, lesnar etc....they'll never get to England!!! the next Abu Dhabi event will be a good one, whenever it is...they had 2 title fights last time!!!
Yes Abu Dhabi was quality. Mainly cos it aired at lunchtime here from what i remember or was that Sydney? either way it was on at a better time than the US events
