You don't wanna go asking pubs landlords or anything of the such about this pub idea, best thing is to create a private group the police can't look at, organise it on there, and just turn up. If the police have any idea about this in advance it won't happen. It is a class idea though just imagine the WYP faces when theres about 10 city fans at the stadium and thousands filling the pubs in Huddersfield Might make a point to them and teach them a lesson or two...
Depends if another game is on at the same time though. The amount of times The Crown was my only option was stupid. Warehouse would be perfect, cheap drinks and it's massive. But then again The Crown has about 6 screens and is cheap too.
tell 'em to **** off. We do NOT live in a society where the police can dictate how and when people travel about their lawful business. The club should refuse to sell tickets, end of.
I got a response to my message to the press office, they're not sure what will happen, they don't fancy the idea of having no fans at a key game in a promotion race, but think the restrictions are completely unreasonable too. How about the club sets a rule that anyone travelling to the game on Tiger Travel has to go dressed as a copper?
Just sent a complaint via the west yorkshire police website, everyone should bombard it, especially those of us living a far distance away and around Huddersfield who it will affect most.
Ask if they'd be showing the game not ask if they'd host OLM's birthday party! It would be great to fill the pubs and leave the stadium empty but I would suspect that WYP will force the vast majority of the pubs to shut also as they do that on match days in Huddersfield sometimes
Every main City Twitter is now backing a complete boycott. The Football Supporters Federation are looking at launching a legal challenge to the restrictions that have been put in place. If you're going to be massively inconvenienced, or not able to go at all, let Amanda at the FSF have details - The Fail are on it too (Goochie, me and you got a mention) http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-18182773-detail/story.html?#axzz2LFF6jmii
I see their point but managed correctly by the fans a boycott would get huge media coverage and Im sure the Udders fans would back us too. City fans could travel over independently without tickets, meet Udders fans for a peaceful protest in a public place pre-match ie near the ground, invite all the media along and then go to the pub to watch. It would be a very powerful message. Im sure other clubs fans would support us too.
The team needing fans there is nonsense. See: Lone Udinese football fan wins hearts in Italy (Udinese won the game too) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-20700529 heck, it could even be used to inspire the team... get them all wearing 'boycott' t-shirts under their City shirts to reveal when we score.
So, I'd have to almost drive past Huddersfield on the way up to get to Hull, to get a coach to and from the ground, then drive almost past Huddersfield on the way home? Feck that. Bring back football for fans please.
I wonder how many complaints West Yorkshire Plod have received, I tweeted that complaints form and it's been forwarded to 8,674 followers already.
Also guaranteed that there'll be a Premier League match on ESPN at 5:20, probably involving one of the Manchester clubs. Meaning very little chance of finding a pub round these parts that will show the City game.
I love it! I like the idea of going to Warehouse, it's massive, there's loads of screens so they'll be able to put it on at least one, the beer's really cheap (can get Carling and Carlsberg for less than 2 quid) and it's in the middle of town so there are plenty of different places to go before and after the game.
Would someone be able to write a generic letter of complaint that can be sent to the FSF and West Yorkshire police? Is there anyone else it's worth complaining too as well? The more we as a group of fans do the more chance there is that either the club will boycott the game or we can get something done about it.
The complaint form would be of little value - the issue is about a policy decision and they don't have to adhere to the IPCC public complaints structure. They will just collate the forms, and no doubt bung out a cover all press release response. I live in Nottingham and as a season ticket holder I am shafted all ends up: I am not making a 2 hour detour either side of a simple trip up the M1, and the rearranged Watford game now falls outside my Easter weekend trip to Hull. Mad Where is the info used to back up this decision?? What category is the match, and what do they know? Have they got credible intel that some thugs are planning?? A boycott would be fantastic - BUT would have to be absolute to work, and there is always going to be one old boy who wants his seat on the coach!! The club should boycott it, and take the decision. Foolish madness. The alternative is to have a coach pick up on a car park near the ground, which the cops would never allow as it defeats the purpose!
What gives the West Yorkshire plod the right to treat decent people like criminals? Completely unnecessary and ridiculous, such restrictions aren't even put in place for when they play the likes of Leeds and Bradford. I wasn't planning on attending this game due to work over the Easter break but I feel for those supporters who have had plans messed up due to this ludicrous decision. I'd back supporters and the club over a potential boycott, absolutely disgusting that we should be treated like this!
Philip Buckingham ‏@PJBuckingham @Amber__Nectar Would anyone from AN be available for comment in tomorrow's paper? Cheers. This is ****ing brilliant. Hangover 2 moment anyone?
