Arby off as well - not sure when or if he'll get back in the first team,
I had high hopes for him. When Jonhson first arrived he said something like he should be one of the best in the league based on the data. I think the target was December for a return. The fact he is playing for the u23s suggest he is still building himself back up. Fingers crossed he gets back to 100% and we can see what he is capable of.

Only real positive was Johnson the one at centre half, thought was impressive in the second half, which is all I saw of the game . Seems Arby is no where near ready to make the step up yet, unfortunately. I,m still smarting over the Younger debacle. our loss will be Donny's gain based on my data, I dont know where that other Johnson gets his data from, but I'm sure I will get told . <laugh>

Heres the report

Sunderland U23s were narrowly defeated by Wolves U23s in the Premier League 2 Division 2 at Eppleton CW.

Harrison Sohna broke the deadlock with the Lads taking the lead in the 14th minute.

A double from Chem Campbell in the 24th and 57th minute meant Wolves came away with the three points.

Both sides were well matched at the start of the game, and Sohna found the breakthrough early on after he capitalised on a defensive error, and coolly slotted his chance past Louie Moulden.

Wolves almost replied swiftly with an equaliser, but Jacob Carney pulled off a brilliant stop to deny the away side a goal.

Campbell found the equaliser after Luke Cundle played a free-kick in low, and the striker had time to pick his spot and score their first goal.

The first half was end-to-end with chances falling to both Tyrese Dyce and Wolves’ Chiquinho, but the sides went into half-time level.

After having an earlier goal ruled out for offside, Wolves scored again as Campbell latched onto a rebound from a cross to net the second the away side.

Chances were limited for the Black Cats in the second half, with Nicky Gyimah having a header caught by the goalkeeper, and Sohna had a chance right at the death, but his shot was blocked.

The young Lads have a week to recover and prepare as they play Nottingham Forest U23s at home again next Monday.

Sunderland AFC: Carney, Kachosa, Newall, Xhemajli (Fieldson 64’), Johnson, Sohna, Scott, Kelly, Gyimah (Trialist 70’), Dyce, Kimpioka.

Subs not used: Richardson, Gardiner, Trialist.

From what I saw Campbell looks a player, but his second goal was a comedy of errors by our defenders and our movement up front was poor, I would say we were outplayed tbh.

Johnson stood out for me as well. If he is the one I think he is only 17 as well and still eligible for u18s. Certainly playing above his years. There was a story about him getting his contract at 15 when still at school. Obviously a Sunderland lad. I think he played in the man utd papa johns game as well. Cant say I have seen a lot of him but hopefully we can get another through the academy.

I really like the look of Sohna as well. He seems to glide around the pitch and sees a pass. He has some growing to do by the looks of it but I hope he pushes on in the next couple of years.

Looks an absolute unit for 17. Think he came on against Man Utd when he was only 16. Hopefully he is the next one coming through.

Stephen Wearne got his first goal on loan a Torquay at the weekend as well...
