A lad they got from us scored twice and also they had Kokolo in the team. **** right off Donald you ****er
Kimpioka looked ****e for Torquay in the National League and appears to be going backwards. Benji Button
The feeling I get with Benji is he thinks he's better than what he actually is. It will be interesting where he ends up after he leaves us.

Another thing worth noting is the presence of SAFC RTC at the new football hubs. The bairn plays u10s at the new one at Downhill and the RTC have been there running trials for girls and boys teams for weeks. Definitely a pro active approach to getting the best local talent into SAFC at a young age.

I've got grandchildren on the Foundation of Light's player development programme at the Beacon, not sure that's the same thing, but they love it.

Hmm not sure if that works to be fair mate. Getting used of losing games doesn't fit well with me if we're expecting these lads to jump into the first team when needed.
I dont think patching up losing games is possible to be honest, losing is losing and nobody should think thats acceptable
I wouldn't worry too much about results in the U23s it's a development squad that changes every season.
It was just a few seasons ago we got to the final of Europe, then not long after we went nearly a full season before they won a game, then last season they were fantastic.
A lot of these players at U23 level will end up leaving the club and either end up in non league football at best .
As long as our development time can spot where the talent is , keep a hold of them and develop them properly I'm not too worried about results.
As for frankie going to Everton the club did everything they could to keep him, maybe his parents could explain what incentives made him change his mind

Sunderland U23s 2-1 Leeds United U23s

Arbenit Xhemajli made his return from injury as Sunderland Under-23s defeated Leeds United Under-23s in Group E of the Premier League Cup.

Cameron Jessup opened the scoring with a header midway through the first half, but Crysencio Summerville equalised for the visitors on the stroke of half time, curling a fine effort past Jack McIntyre between the sticks.

The lively Ethan Kachosa gave the Lads the advantage once again after the break, slotting home after good work down the left-hand side by Nathan Newall.

Substitute Joe Ryder was then sent off for Sunderland late on, but they held on to claim all three points in Group F.

Next up for our Under-23s is newcastle united on Monday 18th October at 7pm.

Sunderland: McIntyre, Johnson, Bainbridge, Wearne (C) (Scott 45), Jessup, Xhemajli (Fieldson 45), Kachosa, Kelly, Gardiner (Ryder 30), Middlemas, Newall (Scott 45)

Subs not used: Unused subs: Bond, Singh

Time we dispensed with the title of this thread because it’s so misleading , the U23s are doing better so why not just have a Ladies Thread , U18s Thread , and a U23s thread , that is unless anything different occurs of course .

I see they’re charging £10 for the U23 Derby at the SOL next Monday night … <doh>

Really? Seems a bit steep.

Hopefully it's not filled with those type of fans who think it's all 'Green Street' ha when it's development isn't it?
