Grandson got signed up for an U11 keeper combat for last night at Middlesbrough College, forgetting that we were playing Hull. Looks like he made the right choice, not only missing the game, but winning the competition. He beat the Boro U10 Academy keeper in the final 10-5, who was playing up a year, although could have been just a few weeks younger than my grandson who won't be 11 until late August. Playing for his Darlington team tomorrow at Downhill in Sunderland, but will be in his normal midfield position
One of my grandsons plays for a couple of local teams in tournaments. In spite of being a bit unorthadox he keeps scoring goals, and is often voted MoM. This has astonished us all tbh. He loves the Jacks, Clarke and Grealish, and is himself the Joker in the pack, the next Shack, who knows .
Grandson is also the joker in the pack but treats his football very seriously (too seriously at times like recently when he broke with the ball, with his team having an overload, the ref blew for half time and his response was to say f... off, not at the ref but at the timing. Fortunately ref just gave him a warning He is captain and often gets Motm and after scores from free kicks over 15 yards out.
Feel for their right back Watson has the beating of him and making it look so easy, had a hell of a turn of pace on him
A game of few chances either end, with the wind making it difficult for either side to get going, defences on top most of the time, looking forward to see how it goes second half, a quick 2nd goal would be just the ticket.
