3-2 spurs didn't deserve that played well second half Ref an absolute homer. Think hes booked our whole team and sent Triantis off Our young 16 year old keeper was excellent
That first team appearance over in USA during pre-season would’ve done him the world of good. Confidence sky high.
That's a big improvement from what I've seen of our 21s last season, when we weren't particularly great tbh. Spurs have a good setup and we seem to have been a match for them tonight. We'll played lads. Will be interesting to see what Murty says, no doubt he will be gutted but plenty of positives there.
Only saw the 2nd half , a great display by our lads spoilt by a referee who gave us nothing and handed them the game. A real team performance with a few outstanding displays all the same. OaU
Maintaining his current form, this boy has a future at first team level, as does others, this team is a mile away from the 12 months ago in terms of real attacking potential. we need to hang on to GM for as long as we can imo. Sunderland AFC Under-21s suffered a last-minute defeat as Tottenham Hotspur were 3-2 winners at the Lamex Stadium. Graeme Murty’s side came from behind twice with goals from Taylor and Crompton but a 98th-minute free kick from Harvey White sealed the three points for the hosts. The Spurs opener came from a Jamie Donnelly converted penalty just 20 minutes in. Niall John with a mazy run into the area and a trip from Triantis gave the forward the opportunity to put the hosts ahead from 12 yards. The Lads were level on 32 minutes as some good play around the edge of the area forced a clearance right to the feet of Ellis Taylor whose deflected effort rolled into the corner of the net to get the full back’s third of the season. The hosts were back ahead just five minutes later. Yago Santiago grabbed Spurs’ second and his fifth of the season as the ball was cut back and he swept the ball home from just inside the box. Ten minutes to go and Graeme Murty’s side were ever so unfortunate not to be level. Chris Rigg ran through on goal, but his effort was wide of the mark. Five minutes from time and the Lads had their deserved equaliser. Some great work from second-half substitute, Harrison Jones, to get to the byline and fire the ball across for Crompton to level at the Lamex. It was late heartbreak as Spurs took the lead eight minutes into injury time. Harvey White stepped up with a free-kick from around 20-yards-out beating Matty Young and firing into the top corner. There was a late red card for Nectar Triantis with a late challenge that saw him pickup his second yellow card of the evening. The Black Cats are back in action this weekend as Manchester United are the visitors in the Premier League 2 at Eppleton CW. Sunderland AFC: Young, Crompton, Triantis, Johnson, Taylor, Burke (Wilson), Rigg, Chiabi (Jones), Spellman, Thompson (Pye), Gardiner. Unused Substitutes: Metcalfe, Fieldson.
For what its worth my opinion is Triantis lost it over some of the referees decisions like awarding two marginal free kicks on the edge of our box in the last couple of minutes yet ignoring our shouts for similar decisions in the same period . They a very good team with a real star in Yago Santiago who looks premiership class with the ball at his feet, yet we out played them in that second half .
