I think we need to start thinking about giving him some serious minutes soon. He has everything you want in a modern forward.
Cracking finish that mind, and that touch took the number 3 out of the game, looks a different beast from 12 months ago.
Is he a Sunderland fan? I know he represents Belgium but he’s got a broader north east accent than me
We’ve got some really nice footballers at this level but we’re lacking in pace, mobility and physicality - particularly in defence. Midfield took time to get going too. When we zip the ball about we look really good but we’re so susceptible to powerful runs when we defend.
He’s been on the bench plenty this season, never looked like getting on though. Should definitely feature against Stoke in the FA Cup.
I'd be looking to fetch him on asap tbh. Possibly even at HT. That's if he doesn't start, but I expect Aleksic in the no 10
Stuffed in the end. It’s no disgrace, Derby have been flying this season. They’ve scored 3+ in 8 of their 10 league games
Sunderland AFC Under-18s exited the FA Youth Cup with a 4-1 defeat to Derby County in the third round. Trey Ogunsuyi was on the scoresheet for the Black Cats but goals from Asida Osayande, Cruz Allen, Johnson Osong and Owen Eames sealed the contest at Pride Park. Lead Coach Jordan Moore opted to make two changes. Ogunsuyi and defender Archie Lightfoot both returning to the starting XI. Jaydon Jones captained the side, while Marcus Neill had a spot on the bench following his match-winning strike for the U21s against Arsenal last night. It was the perfect start for the home side with just two minutes on the clock, Osayande firing home the opener inside the area. The Lads should have been level just moments later, winning the ball back from the press to allow Liam Hunt to bear down on goal, but Harley Price was on hand to parry away his effort. The equaliser came on 23 minutes. Jack Whittaker fed the ball through for Ogunsuyi to take a touch and dink the ball over Price for his 15th goal of the season. The Rams were back in front in the final quarter. Allen converting the cutback from Osong. The game was sealed in injury time with Jake Buxton's side adding a third and fourth in the dying moments. Firstly Allen this time turning provider, feeding Osong to tap into an open net. Then just before the whistle, a breakaway from the Sunderland corner allowed Eames to finish off the counter-attacking move. Our Under-18s will return to action in the new year. SAFC XI: Metcalf, Holcroft, Lightfoot, Jones ©, Kindon, Neild, Geragusian, Hunt (Neill 77), Ogunsuyi, Whittaker, Chungh (Scott 55) Unused substitutes: Parker, Cowan, Bell, Hester, Dinsdale. My view Derby looked faster, stronger , older? certainly better prepared than us and could have been out of sight by half time tbh. One to forget maybe but better preparation and a game plan might help,
That Derby lad Allen looked very strong on the ball and caused us more than a few problems. He should have been sent off later in the game for a nasty challenge but the ref bottled it and gave a yellow. Hopefully they learned a few lessons.
I saw that as well , they were well versed in the physical stuff, and their first goal was a warning of what was to come. Thei Derby co-comentator, and lead coach for the U21,s often started his sentences by saying "if we finish with 11 on the pitch ......." He knew what he was talking about and so did we by the end.
