Sunderland U21 back in it as Louis Laing tees up Laidler for his second. Work to do for #SaintsFCU21.

    Southampton FC‏@officialsaints

Third #SaintsFCU21 change sees Sinclair replaced by Joe Curtis after 76 minutes.

Chance for Hoskins to round off his hat-trick eight minutes from time but Pickford blocks well. #saintsfcu21

My work is here is done! Good to see another positive result. 12 goals in our two games for the U18 and U21 teams against Sunderland. Hope for an exciting game in December too!

After seeing both Hoskins and Sinclair on Player in the past i think they both look like they have very bright futures. Sinclair especially. Double their Weetabix and beef up a bit and I think they could step up to the first team next year.

Hoskins has been around for a while, 19 years old and plays for u21s and was top scorer for the u18s for a couple of seasons. Sinclair was top scorer for u18s last year and is only 16 years old I believe? Hoskins was loaned to Rotherham last season and got a couple of goals. I'm not sure if Hoskins will make it with us, but I think Sinclair has a chance. Also, nice to see Reeves play, he hasn't been given a squad number though and his contract is up this summer I believe. The ones to look out for are the ones with international call-ups (Shaw, Ward-Prowse, Chambers, etc.)

Sinclair is 17. A second year scholar. I thought he didn't get going today. Should have put one chance away and was lacking pace down the wing. He is better as a striker like Hoskins. Both do need to beef up or they will get knocked off the ball too easily. Chambers played well especially when McQueen came on as they link up well. McQueen looked strong and good on the ball and made some excellent diagonal runs. He was coming from injury. Corby Moore did well in the middle with Reeves. Turnbull and Stephens at the back were solid. All in all there is some great talent coming through.

Sinclair lacking pace? The lad has bags of it.

Watching the Brighton highlights on player, the Staplewood pitch looked a lot smaller than the St Mary's pitch. Is that a deliberate ploy to encourage playing rather than sheer running? Sinclair, Hoskins and Lee sounds like a very attacking front 3, is that a fair assessment?

Normally yes he looks pacey but he never got going today. I can't recall a single time he beat the full back or broke at pace. I've watched Sinclair play hundreds of games over the years and I would say he has struggled at U21 level. He is a very clever player that tries to play at speed but it' didn't work for him today. There is a massive difference between U18 and U21 regarding the speed of the game and the need for core strength on 1 on 1 situations.

Lee was disappointing but Hoskins was always dangerous. The best attacks in the first half were when Dicko and Chambers joined in. I think Saints looked more dangerous when McQueen was on.

The fastest players in the U21 are easily Isgrove and Seidi.

All IMHO but I am biased.

Sam Hoskins should be given gametime at Stevenage if you ask me

Totally agree. With the right service Hoskins is a goal machine.Works very hard. Defenders cannot settle when he is on the pitch He does actually score by chasing down the back pass to the keeper. A local lad who played a year up for Oakwood Rangers when my middle son was in their team.

Two good results for our academy. When they play at Staplewood is there any chance of watching.

I know about that but was wondering if you walked up could you get in.

The reason given for not being open to us was the lack of parking space at the moment.
