My take on the matter is thus. All my life I have overheard in pubs, and been told to my face that Hull City Academy, and in the earlier days, the Juniors, were 5hite, and the players picked to play for them were too, as were the coaches. Everyone was there because they knew someone, etc etc, and the tales were always spun by disgruntled amateur players who had either been overlooked for a trial, not been selected, not been offered a contract by the club or the relatives of lads who hadn't been taken on by the club. I have watched many games between representative youth teams from Hull City against local amateur teams usually some East Riding FA competition and in nearly every case the City lads were on a hiding to nothing. Every game was a cup final for the local amateurs and probably the biggest one of their playing days and one to dine off for the rest of their lives. If I had a pound for every local player who played against Dean Windass in his younger days and thought he was crap then I'd be a wealthy man. I take every story, because that's what they are, with a huge pinch of salt. I'm refering to the recent Hedon game here. I thought ST post informing everyone of one ex coaches sexuality was uncalled for. He is entitled to his views, as everyone else is, on the reasons he and others left the club. That doesn't make his opinion factually correct or true. The club cannot 'drive anyone' out of a job either and anyone who thinks they can ride slipshod over employment law and rigid guidelines set down by the FL without investigation is fooling themselves. As a meare supporter of the club I think our Academy is in a very healthy position. The club obviously cannot keep every young lad on they sign and not everyone who signs for the club as a 10 year old is going to make the first team. I doubt if any player who is fortunate enough to even spend one training session with our Academy coaches will leave afterwards not having improved some aspect of their game. If an individual is successful in getting on the coaching staff at Hull City then they are there on merit and ability, the same principle applies to any young lad who is offered a contract. It as simple as that.
I have no axe to grind, I am simply repeating what I have been told by several young lads. The issue with JB, while not well known to the public, is nevertheless out there. I’d heard it at the time and not believed it, heard it a few more times from people within the club. I will edit the post, out of courtesy, but I’m not hiding behind anonymity for the sake of what I think was a distinct lack of support for somebody who thoroughly deserved some.
It's out there now because you posted it on a public forum. If this person wanted this to be public knowledge he would have announced it himself. It wasn't down to you to oust him to all and sundrie. Also you claim 'I am just repeating what I have been told by several young lads' So you are tickle tackling, like an old washer woman?
I never knew and really had no need to know, hey ho. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Knowing a little bit of this I think it was unfair to say the allams weren’t supportive about his sexuality Safeguarding were involved so draw you own conclusions from that
I haven’t ousted anybody, you’re free to disregard it as you please. It was what I was told, there could very well be more to the story, from the sounds of it it was common knowledge what happened to Jon, I didn’t know any different and I don’t know what people know what on here. At the time, there were allegations of abusive behaviour etc, which were obviously not true and in light of that it’s probably important to correct the record. His sexuality is definitely not the story here, it couldn’t matter any less, it was the treatment of him that I disagreed with (if true), but even then it’s besides the point. The opinions of the lads are just that, there might be some who think CS is great, Rosie included. I just posted what I’d heard having spoken to a few youth players and it seemed to form a pattern. It could very well be that I had only spoken to the ones that don’t like him or are being released, but two of them aren’t AFAIK, so it’s not as though I did a bit of hack journalism and made a point of finding just disgruntled YTS players. See, this is the problem. People want to know stuff, then it’s “oh that’s too much” or “nah that’s bullshit.” Fine, I have no problem with people not believing it, but if I’m asked, I’ll say (when I can) and that’s all I can do.
I can understand if you don’t want to divulge more info but if there was an internal investigation into wrongdoing, he wouldn’t be working for another academy if he was found to be acting inappropriately or unprofessionally. Maybe he felt uncomfortable working for our academy when safeguarding got involved regardless if there was wrongdoing. Idk.
They might have been, it was that specific situation that was made out to be more of a lack of support as opposed to a general attitude towards him.
Because Kalman asked me to expand on it? It was only mentioned when somebody specifically asked me to expand on what I said, I didn’t include it in the original, longer post I mentioned because it wasn’t anything to do with the current situation.
As me mam used to say, if someone asked you to put your head in the gas oven would you do it. I should add this is a thread I don't normally view and I have not read it all so I have no idea who are what you're all on about. Probably for the best.
Back to football Sellars: Delighted to have play-off chance 14 Hours ago please log in to view this image Lead PDP Coach Conor Sellars says he is delighted the team have the opportunity to compete for the Professional Development League play-offs. The Tigers’ 2-0 win over Cardiff City last time out and results elsewhere saw the Tigers draw level on points with second-placed Wigan Athletic, one goal behind the Latics in third. With the Tigers and Coventry both mathematically possible to qualify for the final play-off place with one game remaining, Sellars is focused on the test at hand against Charlton Athletic next Tuesday. “I am delighted the lads have the opportunity to try and get into the play-offs and if we get there then we will try and give the other teams a good challenge,” said Sellars. “The result against Cardiff City was a really good result in terms of the table. I felt first half we were particularly really dominant. Our bits of play and our patterns and the way that we were playing was just like the first team. “We should have scored more goals looking at the stats and the chances within the game (against Cardiff). “I am just really delighted that the players are playing this way and how much they are buying into it as well as see three Under-16s in Stan Ashbee, Stan Hewitt and Aidan Durkan come on at the end. “It was a great experience for them three and the lads around them were brilliant and to use their experience to help them within the game was good, but I was really delighted with the performance and the result and the overall feeling as well. “We are trying to get players through into the first team; that is our main aim,” added Sellars. “It is to try and play a certain style of play, but also do that and win which is the most successful way, so if we can get players through that play a certain way and win games, then that is great and things are going really well on that front.”
One of the comments reads: Celi es una mierda, un embarazado, que tal padrino. Or, in English - Celi is ****, an embarrassment, how are you The Godfather
Another reads: Que paso con el? No estaba en el campo ni 10 minutos y se le notaba agotado y de su juego ni se diga... pésimo. What happened to him? He wasn't on the field for even 10 minutes and he looked exhausted and not to mention his game... appalling.
Anyone with any info on Simms? Seems to be on fire before Xmas then tailed off. Injuries, plateau or ..?
