That's not what the u21s is for...

Benching our youngsters for players that will be gone in January is a farce

How is the new manager going to see if they're up for it if they don't get to play a competitive fixture?

It's hardly a competitive fixture playing against kids.

Rosey is a bright fella, he'll know all about them. I can't see how a game against kids will change that.

Maybe he meant it when he said "clean slate" for all?

Well it's not uncommon to have over 23s playing for the stiffs if they aren't in the first team. A chance to see them play outside of training is what is needed, no way would he risk them being played in an actual league fixture unless he knew they were going to make an impact.

Perhaps by giving them minutes and match fitness he thinks that we'll get more interest in them? Just a thought..

Why not send them to Scunny on a months loan?

Help out a local side and the players should get a bit of match fitness and confidence before Jan

Because by keeping them here we can control how much and when they play?

As they played and Rosie's No.2 stayed to watch them play rather than going to our next game, it suggests he's very keen to get some idea of what they're actually capable of. Harvey Vale is one of the most highly rated players to come out of the Chelsea academy in years, we've not seen it yet, but there has to be a player in there.

He's only played 1 or 2 games for us hasn't he? Definitely need to give him a proper chance or he'll be back to Chelsea in January and off somewhere else where he'll no doubt tear it up.

From what I've read and the little I've seen, Vale should go onto great things but that doesn't mean he's ready to play in the Championship at 19.

With Salah and Allahyar back hopefully in the next couple of months chances will become even more limited too

Who should he be in the current 18 over?

Slater, Tufan, Longman, Sinik have all shown at times that they shouldn't be locks in the first XI and all play a variant of the role that Vale would be able to offer with other shifts in formation.

Not disputing that but Vale didn't look very good in his appearance either. Surely there has to be an argument in favour of giving Vale's minutes to Jarvis.

He came on under Daws and looked extremely bright. At least he's our player too and will be here long term (if we wish), so any time we spend on his development will benefit us too.

As above, I'm really not sure how you can judge him off one appearance. Perhaps even more reason for him to be playing U21s so that Rosenior can judge him properly - something that you were opposed to at the beginning of this conversation.

They'll know all about Vale. Justin Walker will likely know more about Vale than he does the vast majority of our squad.

I can't see for a second that Rosenior or his staff will be judging him from one 23s game.

I thought he'd have been the likely one to come into the squad to replace Oscar, but that's clearly not the case.

I watched him in the U19's European tournament which England won, and he was excellent. Obviously, the injury has set him back a bit, but I am sure he will come good in time.
