Following this season, Southampton became the 13th team in Premier League history to fail to win any of their opening seven home games of a season, but only the third to avoid relegation, along with Middlesbrough in 2000-01 and Portsmouth in 2005-06. -source Skysports

We were once the king of that (1998/9 ............9 games played & just two points to show for it <yikes> ). We had some shockers didn't we!
Good stat Richie. Didn't think they'd be anymore updates after close season.

So, we've got a few to add.

First win at Fratton park since 84.
Biggest win against them, over taking the 5-2.
Four away wins on the bounce without conceding. (1986 was 3)
Feel free to dot the i's and cross the t's if I've missed something.

Actually, there are at least two. Eastleigh beat Torquay away 3-2 in the National league. Well done the Spitfires.

The last time Southampton suffered five defeats in their opening eight league games, they were relegated from the Premier League.

But worth mentioning we've survived with a worse record as well.

We've also scored in our last 18 consecutive matches at St Marys I heard today.

Greatest winning margins in Premier League history:

    2019: Southampton 0-9 Leicester
    1995: Man Utd 9-0 Ipswich
    2009: Spurs 9-1 Wigan
    1999: Newcastle 8-0 Sheff Wed
    2010: Chelsea 8-0 Wigan
    2012: Chelsea 8-0 Aston Villa
    2014: Southampton 8-0 Sunderland
    2019: Man City 8-0 Watford

We're the only team to appear on both sides of that list.

It's a shame that we didn't get 10 against Sunderland as we wouldn't have had last night's record.

At least Leicester didn’t score 5 in the second half as well as the first, that would have lost us a record.

Last night was the first time two sons of Premier League goalkeepers have faced each other in goal in the Premier League.

Last night also continued our run of not winning at home to 17 years.
