Having Chambers out makes a huge difference. Everything is far from perfect but at least we have some balance and shape now.

Well that was a decent half of football.

It's good to see some pace and energy in the full back positions. Kenlock has done alright and Matheson has been good so far, he can certainly get about the pitch quicker than Chambers. The team has a better balance to it with Downes holding and Dozzell further forward and Parrott is playing the lone striker well. Definitely some positives about our game so far today.

Agreed. I've already seen Matheson recover position with his pace a couple of times and the balance does look better.

Kenlock has been a bit slow and his passing is sloppy but it’s still far better for the team to have two full backs in full back positions. If we got a run in the side no doubt he would sharpen up a bit.

Woolfenden and McG will have to be at their best though because Chambers will be in at CB as soon as one of them makes a mistake.

Freddie had to score, I do like Matheson, playing beautifully, coming forward, a good head on his young shoulders.

Well, as I forecast, a fresh team on the park, all the newbies putting in very commendable performances, and in pite of none having played togeteher before there has been an energy and passing style we havn't witnessed for weeks.

I called 2-0, and it could have been 4. We will take this and have a tough old game gainst the Posh.

    Good afternoons shift!

So a surprising 2-0 win it is then.

A much better performance today from a young starting eleven. The team had more balance with 2 mobile full backs and a front line that offered movement, hold up and creativity. Downes was a good captain and I hope that having the armband will make him slightly more disciplined in his play. Dozzell and Judge played well and Parrott was decent leading the line. I still feel that we played too many high balls forward but it looks difficult to play on the ground football as there are some really rough areas on the pitch. The defense held up and we limited Blackpool to very few chances.

    Holy - played well enough
Kenlock - decent again today. Added to the attack when he could and the passing accuracy should come with games. The state of the pitch down the sides doesn't help.
McGuiness - solid game and threatening at corners.
Woolfenden - a bit more urgency to his game today. Nice header for his goal.
Matheson - great debut from Luke. He may make a mistake here and there but he has the pace to recover and get back in position. Didn't panic in defensive situations and overlapped when the opportunities came. Much better than having the aged legs of Chambers at full back, who clearly cannot get up and down the field anymore.
Downes - good work as a screen to the CBs. I like that he was made captain, I think it will really help his game overall to have that responsibility. The holding role is a great spot to have your captain at.
Dozzell - much better playing further forward. Used his range of passing well and you can tell that the experience he has gained from playing the sitter has made him a more rounded player with a willingness to get back and cover gaps that he didn't have before. We will create more chances with him higher up the pitch.
Judge - improved performance from Alan. Benefited from better movement around him and he seemed to enjoy himself today.
Sears - not great but not terrible. Unfortunate not to score.
Thomas - lively display with good movement, ball control and vision to make things happen.
Parrott - held the ball up and kept the defense busy. Showed some great control with high balls either chested or plucked out of the air with his foot.

All in all there were plenty of positives from the game. Balance, energy and more movement meant we were on the front foot all game and made sure that Blackpool never got to feel comfortable. Good debuts from the loan signings and improved displays from Dozzell and Judge who linked well together.

Chambers will have to wait for a mistake from the CBs before he gets a look in again......I hope!!

A good result and I wish you all a pleasant evening <cheers>
