Ripped from the NOTW...... GALATASARAY want to sign Sunderland's Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan. The Istanbul giants believe the African hotshot could be the player to help make a push for the Turkish Super League title. But so far they have been knocked back by Sunderland's desire to hold on to a player they signed for £13million just 10 months ago from Rennes. Gyan has been linked with a move away from the Stadium of Light this summer and has given conflicting assurances over his position, although last week he insisted he would be staying. That, however, has not stopped interest in the marksman, who scored 10 goals in his Premier League debut season. Sunderland do not want to sell any more top players after the departures of Darren Bent and Jordan Henderson. Instead they plan to add more firepower and after the signing of Ji-Dong Won, hope to add David Ngog and either Connor Wickham or Peter Crouch - and could yet re-sign Danny Welbeck on loan from Manchester United. They are on the brink of completing a £5m deal for Craig Gardner from Birmingham and Steve Bruce will meet with free agent David Vaughan this week to try to tempt him to move to Sunderland. West Brom are also interested.
