You may call it realism but I've never heard such fence sitting from a club that has done so well and put itself on the front foot by getting into the top 6 at the halfway point, and then seemingly decide to consolidate for the Championship next season ... I saw nothing in Mr Ashton's statement that does not indicate that the path to be continued along is one that has led to improvement this season.

Unless you've got megabucks to blow and run the risk of breaching FFP rules, you will never build a squad in the Championship that will not then require major surgery to stay up if it gets there. ... Which is an altogether different topic. BCFC in the Premiership would have different projected earnings and different guaranteed income and a different budget. You are getting beyond the current reality.

Maybe a two pronged plan but only one should have been considered at the half way point given where you got yourself by Christmas. Except for the back-patters, wrong message - seems like preparing the ground for failure ... Bristol City is a habitual loss making business with debts it cannot pay back (fortunately to its owner), to comply with FFP, increase funding of the XI, become more sustainable the path Bristol City are pursuing is practical, progressive and far nore likely to lead to success than the folly of the recent past that saw BCFC spunking millions upon millions of pounds on forty year old pant models, blokes like Nick Hunt and Stewart. This led to annual losses and debt that saw the club being relegated due to the enormous cost cutting it had to comply with. That was insanity.

If Mr Ashton walked past my house I would shake his hand and slap his back.

Totally agree with your last sentence. <ok>

It's where you go from here that counts and it's good to have specific plans for the future as long as they don't impede the present.

Who twisted it? Get your facts right rather than shooting your mouth off every time you see me post.

I don’t get it, just because soom doomer’s have written us off for season end I can’t see anywhere where MA says that’s it we are wrapping up this season?
****ing hell we’ve had a bad month compared to the others this season but things change. The past two seasons we’ve hit top gear March onwards.
At the moment we are top six, and still three points above seventh place. Yes we might dip out but what’s to say we won’t win a few and get back into top six at the end and go into play offs on form?

You're a complete ****in nause.. and I will keep pointing it out for ever more while you continue to bore your way into every conversation just so you can keep Cardiff in the conversation. you have been doing it repeatedly for months now and you are that ****ing arrogant you think no one has noticed.

Your opinion is irrelevant here and you talk absolute ****e anyway. (Cliftonville just owned you with actual facts about our club that we would all be aware of but doesn't stop you putting your wrong and boring two pence worth in though does it)

Just go away you boring man.

nobody of the dozen that was brave
enough to forcast the end of season positions .. I bottled it and changed my prediction downward !

in reality we have a team pushing for top 6
a team that might be good enough with addition or two along the lines of past 2 seasons to stay up a season by skin of teeth
a team that needs one or two to purposely get us up and keep us there for a couple of seasons
a strong base to build on over a couple of years a quality platform to go up and opportunity to balance out the books

Ahh, banksy - sorry I couldn't reply to your kind message last night - I was watching my team destroy a poor Bolton side - you know, the one that beat you recently.

Clifton talks from knowledge of your club and makes a lot of sense unlike your caveman approach. At least he can discuss the issues without dragging his knuckles on the floor.

I bow to his far greater knowledge of the Bristol City set up than I would ever claim to possess but was actually discussing the broader implications of Championship/Premier circumstances on the thread and the approach of your club toward the rest of this season and beyond.

If these go over your head and you prefer others to speak on your behalf on the issue, then so be it. In the meantime, keep trolling my posts as much as you like - you will find me over here quite a lot discussing football in general as we hit the run in.

I've no wish to derail this discussion thread Tom and Wiz - that was never my intention, so I'll desist from contributing any more to it in case it attracts some more ugghhh comments. <ok>

    They beat us did they?

Yea no one cares.. Back to Cardiff again!

You were stating what you proclaimed as facts about Bristol City without having the required knowledge to comment, you got destroyed (yet again) and its you doing the trolling continuously bringing the conversation back to Cardiff as Wiz had to point out to you yet again.

    Bore off mate..

He's back with more of the same rubbish.

I didn't "proclaim facts about Bristol City" at all - it was an opinion on the approach of clubs that found themselves in the top 6 at the New Year. Other posters understood that and chose to discuss it.

You on the other hand want twist it to suit your trolling. Good luck with that but I hope another decent discussion thread is destroyed because of your mission.

It will never stop now.. you say you want to talk about football.. that boat has sailed when you became the condescending, arrogant bore you are now.

When your not here boring everybody, no threads destroyed! very simple, but you seem incapable of understanding that simple fact.

Believe it or not this forum was getting along just fine without the vulgar bore who wanted to start threads about how expensive his car was! In fact thats why your here because your forum is bored to death with you.

No it didn't. I can't resist the urge to watch you hang yourself over and over again with your repetitive crap - you're laughable and obviously deeply disturbed.

It's a shame yet another good discussion thread over here is going down the pan because of his obsession, but there you go, it's up to your mods.
