Why? Do you not like posters pointing out they were right?

Kirkland: it isn't a pointless argument, granted he may suddenly have a miraculous turn around and become un-fragile, but looking at his record recently - it looks highly unlikely.

I know it's on a free transfer, but with all the talk about not wasting money and not having players picking up wages sat around doing nothing (especially after the Bullard saga), I'm surprised Adam Pearson thinks it's a good move unless it's on a pay-as-you-play deal or a very low wage with additions such as appearance bonuses or something...

I'm hoping Jakupovic is a hidden gem, as I wouldn't say his CV is that 'impressive' - I know Spurs looked at him, but not long after he was released from his contract and picked up by a lowly Greek side which went on to be relegated - why wasn't he picked up by someone better?

Again, not 'slagging him off', just questioning why? - I'll reserve judgement till I've seen him play, rather than hyping him up.

...and it was December 2009 Spurs looked at him, not last season.

CSKA Moscow wanted him but were unable to agree a fee.

Spurs wanted him if Gomes left at the start of this season.

He can't be bad at all if CSKA, Spurs, Everton and Newcastle have all looked at him.

Well at least it shows he must have something for good teams to have been looking at him - just wonder why he ended up at Aris instead?

    EDIT:

Doesn't look too bad in this video - better considering the defending is terrible!

Kirkland will bring a bit of experience to the team, not sure on this other bloke as I ddon't know much about him but he can't be bad if the likes of Spurs and Newcastle have looked at him. Shame about Vito, but at least we're getting the keeper situation sorted early and with a keeper with top flight experience.

It's hardly surprising that people have concerns about Kirkland's injury record, he's only played eight games in the last two years(only one game this season) and he's been injured at Wigan, Leicester and Doncaster. He might turn out to be fine, but his recent injuries are obviously cause for concern.

think the main with kirkland as alot have said, if we can get plenty of game time out of him were onto a winner, good signing if thats the case, but then again he could be another folan/bullard/appelby signing if injurys persist, bit of a gamble but maybe were due a bit of luck.

definatly the calibre of player we should be looking to sign ability wise if were to challenge for promotion seriously next season.

if thats the keeper situation sorted, do we go for an experianced centre back next ala gerrard or do we trust in cooper and bradley.

2 goal scoring wide men/support strikers next please and a striker while your at it barmbs

Nothing has been agreed with Kirkland, he is someone we have looked at and is interesting in joining us. I know of at least one other keeper we are looking at, but it will depend a lot on what happens with final league placings etc.

A bit of a deja vu moment here.

Youtube isn't a great indicator of talent.

Don't want another Ghilas on our hands.

Tbh I think if we sign Kirkland and he gets injured, then Mannone will join on loan again(hopefully).

"...etc...." ? does that mean promises of bigger investment from our owners, or new investors, based on relative success this season? sounds like a sensible performance related bonus for team building. or perhaps reinvestment of potential club winnings.

I was actually agreeing with Tickler completely until he hit on the "being injury prone before doesn't matter" line.

If he's fit to play he's a quality keeper who could be playing for anyone in the bottom half of the PL. You would hope with his history, and our's with players like Bullard and Appleby that we'll be trying to sign Kirkland on good wages when he's fit that drop if he's injured, with the saving being enough to bring in a loanee if it's a longer term injury and in that case it should be a good deal.

With Leeds having Kenny as a likely target the probability would be Lonergan leaving rather than them both being there, but there's a few QPR fans on their forum saying Kenny has been crap since he came back from his injury and looks like he can barely move compared to before, even to the point where they can't understand Cerny not having kept his place in the team.

As for Jakupovic having already signed but us being unable to announce it, why is that? He's foreign based and going to be out of contract, so we could have agreed a precontract with him and announced it at any time since the start of January, so what kind of deal is there that prevents us announcing it? And why would we not want to announce it if it was already done?

I think the POint TCKLER was making is that no matter who we sign so many of our fans seem so ****ing negative before it's even been confirmed. Any player that signs for us should be welcomed with open arms and innocent until proven guilty. The guy hasn't signed and he already has doubters. That can't be good for any new signing's confidence.

By that do you mean in terms of promotion/relegation of the player's current club or our final position?

In fairness to tickler I think a lot of 'injury-prone' players are exaggerated a bit. It could just be a coincidence that he's had a few. I don't know a lot about the injuries he's had but if for example he kept getting broken legs from crazy tackles that wouldn't be injury prone that would just be unlucky. The players you want to avoid are these Folan types who keep getting mysterious 'leg' injuries ruling them out for half a season at a time.

Both, but more specifically what happens with other clubs, if certain clubs are relegated it has been made clear to us that at least one of our long term targets would be available and very interested in joining us.
