While I feel both Ale and Mackie are 100% the right sorts, I think this will be a season too far for them. A sentimental gamble on both of them in my opinion.

I actually think he'll give even more when wearing a QPR shirt than he has done wearing Reading or Nottingham colours.I guess like a few on here said at the time of his signing that he brings good championship-level experience, no frills but plenty energy which in this league you may need from time to time, especially as it looks like a cup run is in the offering!
Tooting i have been saying that all along. if the "I love Jamie Mackie" fan club actually looked at him as a footballer than some sort of god, they would see that he is average at best and not really what we should be signing.
Well the two big mistakes I recall were Perch allowing Clarke-Harris to get in behind to set up Derbyshire to miss that sitter at 0-0 and, being a little harsh, Faurlin's slip which led to the first goal.
Hall was very good at least from where I was sitting as was Luongo, who was my MOM. The next youngest player in the team was Phillips I think, who is quite experienced now himself. The average age of the team must have been quite high.
Maybe the "Jamie Mackie is Useless" club should take note of the qualities he brings to the squad on and off the pitch. Doesn't look like he's good enough for the starting XI but who would you rather bring on when we need a goal- Mackie or Hoilett? Which of those would you rather see wearing the shirt when Phillips, Chery or Luongo is injured?
Don’t think we should be building our team round Mackie or have him as a regular first 11 if all are fit but think because of his versatility he will be a useful squad player and get a lot of games. He has done well in his one and only game for us so far, playing on the left, which shows his versatility.
While I get you’re reservations about Mackie I think you are way off about Faurlin.He is absolutely crucial to our chances this season considering the formation we play. He will be the lynchpin in that system. His range of passing displayed on Saturday and more importantly ability to play at the right tempo, getting it forward quickly when needed will be vital.
Playing in that holding role should get more touches than any other player on the pitch. And he will do that and wont hide. I played close attention to Henry on Saturday and watched more of what I already knew. He often hides particularly in that first half and not wanting to get on the ball and when he does get the ball he is too slow to release it, and his range of passing cant compare to Faurlin (one long pass out to the right on Sat excepted as out of the ordinary).
Agree that experienced players like Perch, Henry and being harsh Faurlin were equally as guilty as the youngsters on Sat.
Hall though did make a couple of inexperienced cock ups though, firstly when he messed up his headed back pass we only just about got away with in the first half. And then after Faurlin’s slip he went diving in wildly and unnecessarily leaving a free shot on goal which they took and scored from.
Mr anonymous Henry seems to have benefited from that anonymity and no one has pulled him up in any of the reports I’ve read on costing us the second goal. As he let his man wonder off and win the header unchallenged which was flicked on to a team mate for an open goal.
Faurlin played well until that slip and was comfortable in the middle. I thought the experience of Konchesky was important and in the first half most of the play went down his side. Austin with the lay off and goals was also vital.
Getting back to my original post i said we need experienced players and if you disagree with that then i guess whatever i saw you will probably just say the opposite.
We are judging Faurlin on his 2010/2011 form - if he can re-capture and stay injury free, then we're all laughing. I won't judge him one way or the other just yet - but my reservation is that he won't be that player again - not because I don't rate the player he was then.
He's Jamie Mackie. Stan has always had this thing about him. There is no dispute between the rest of us and Stan that he is a grafter (Mackie not Stan) but Stan would prefer a bit more from him than that. He therefore can't understand the whole 'Living in a Jamie wonderland' thing. He can agree that there's only one Jamie Mackie. He just wishes that you could change the name to something else something like Leo Messi.
The problem is elementary my dear Oslo. Stan likes his football played with a little 'je ne sais quoi'. He thrives (gets off) on the inspiration, beauty and excitement that only a true QPR no10 can deliver. Mackie like OBZ falls into that tiresome category by being physical, energetic, sweaty from all that running and preferably all three at the same time. Stan has developed a taste for a bit of panache over the years
Just remember the next time the urge takes you, that the louder you sing our adapted Xmas carol, the more grumpy Stan may become.

This with bells on and whoever mentioned he was a God and the saviour of the club? He is a very good championship player and someone to rely on, his attitude and application is unquestionable and no he's not Hazard nor Messi but he will give 100% which is much more than we have been used to over the past couple of years.

I believe mackie is a good signing on a free. Personally think he is a good squad player at this level. The important thing about signing mackie was his attitude towards football and especially QPR following the past 'pay day' players we once signed. It was and is vital that we have players that are 1. Good enough at this standard 2. The right attitude to play at this standard 3. Desire to play for QPR or the potential to be able to play for QPR.
