But they didnt get their ankles broken, did they? If you punish for what could have happened, we wont have a game anymore. Players break their ankles when there is no op players anywhere near them, just come down the wrong way, look at Brown today, he went over the top of Richardson, got injured, but thats football. I for one dont want to see the blood and thunder going out of our game.
Mate i dont want to argue with you, yes there has to be challenges, but go and watch the challenges again and see exactly where the players get caught, the Boro lads have no 'control' over their challenges and these are the challenges the laws of the game are meant to protect the players from. To say 'But they didnt get their ankles broken, did they?' is just a gamble and one i dont want players to take. Bad bad challenges and if red had been given for the first the second wouldnt have happened.
I have seen them again, they were not red card offences for me, yes if cattermole had made them, he would have seen red, but it doesnt mean they are red card challenges. I just hate the way its gone to a pussies game, its a contact sport, get on with it.
Mate i dont understand your comments really, Catts has been possibly the player of the last 2 months, and why, ill tell you, he has stopped diving in and now plays with his head only making challenges when he needs to. Its not a game of pussies but instead a game of truely high tuned athletes moving and turning at greater speeds than ever before. If we played with the laws of 30 years ago the pitches would be like a scenes out of Saving Private Ryan, with bodies everywhere. Tackling laws had to change because the game changed.
So just beacuse the attackers are fitter and faster we should outlaw tackling? We will be down to 7 a side soon if every challenge is a red card offence. I was more pissed off with sess today rolling around like he had been shot, only to get up 2 minutes later, nothing wrong with him, that Magic sponge is bloody marvelous isnt it.
Look lets agree to disagree, lets hope we spank the Boro at their place and get into the Gunners when they come up here, peace out!
Kevin Friend has never done us an favours in all the games we have had him...If we never have him again it won't be long enough...
Just heard Vaughan is out for a couple of weeks after the tackle, abybody still think a bit of 'good ol tacking' is good for the game, really annoyed now that the Boro lad didnt get sent off! I heard a fantastic idea the other day which would be hard to impose but if one player injures another player in a dangerous way then the other player should get banned for the same length of time as the injured player is injured.
I thought that Boro seemed to be going out of their way to injure our players yesterday, and as per usual Kevin Friend turned a bloind eye to anything that may benefit Sunderland...
Agreed I dont think any tackle in the game yesterday deserved a red card. We have gone massively over the top in what is reckless and what isnt. 20 years ago these would have been quality tackles and im sure no more players got injuries than they do today. Footballers are pussies these days and need to learn how to take a tackle.
