What a fantastic idea, let`s get rid of 2 creative players, who on their day are unplayable, on the back of a collective inept performance on the first game of the new season. Or not! How much would it cost to replace them, ever thought of that? You sound like one of those moaning Canary callers
If Saturday taught me anything it's that our midfield was absolutely screaming out for Wes' creativity and movement, not to flog him off to the highest bidder.
Looks like Bunn - the goalie from Blackburn - has handed in a transfer request. Apparently Dave Watson worked with him at Northampton.
Right, Swansea sell joe allan for £15mil and replace him with Michu for £1.5mil and getting Ki from celtic for £5mil. That leaves £8.5mil left to improve. Bet there not moaning about flogging Allan for that amount with the quality they have got and bringing in. We have way too many attack minded players for my liking especially if hughton is going to insist on being so bl***y negative in his tactics then we should cash in on one of them and get in in a CB, CDM and a striker!
interesting development. from what i know, blackburn fans rate him higher than robinson, so he must be pretty good. i assume the kids will be going out on loan then... that can only be a good thing for them to get experience
Not sure we need any more depth in the midfield Supers - we had Wes, Fox and Buttercup all missing on Saturday and most opinion is that we need to sacrifice a midfielder in the starting line up to play 2 up front. If we need cash, £2m would be a right handy boost to the war chest and we need quality (as well as quantity). Sorry, but we should sell and get funds ....
Managemeant need to get there priorities right, Serious problems on the pitch quality and tactic wise yet more concerned about bringing in a back up bl***y goalkeeper even though we have 3 already!
you don't sell your best players. you only sell them if there is a buyer willing to pay over the odds for them. swansea have that - we don't. be realistic - there is still time to get in the personnel (you know which position i'm on about!) we need, so stop panicking, take a step back from it and re-assess things... you might feel a bit better.
sorry, i was being silly! i agree with you they should be offloaded, but we won't get many funds for them. however, every penny will come in handy
Ok, the only thing im really p****d off about is CH negavtive approach to a game when our squad is full of positive approach! Does not make sense atall and it is slightly worrying, especially when we got told by brum fans and media personell alike that he likes to play one up top. If he had watched ALL MATCHES from last season he would of noticed so many things that dont work yet he goes through with it! 1. Holt is hopeless on his own. 2. Rusty is not good enough for RB 3. Howson is nowhere near good enough as deep as he is going forward Then Snodgrass does not play atall well behind the striker, his best position is on the wing. I know im not a manager but if he had actually done his homework then this would have stood out like a sore thumb
ok, the bit in bold is fine, i think we all felt a little annoyed that it was THAT negative. i also feel we need to play to our strengths (attack-minded) BUT we DO need to tighten up at the back. maybe he went a bit too far on saturday. whatever, it certainly backfired. i'm a bit fed up with people saying one up front doesn't work. not sure if anyone noticed, but fulham played one up front against us! its not how many you have up front, its the balance and the service you provide which matters. having two up front on saturday would have made NO difference because we would still have lost as we defended atrociously. holt is not 'hopeless' up front on his own. what he needs is quality support from wide areas and deeper. he didn't get that at the weekend. i agree (sadly) that martin is a tad out of his depth at this level as a right back. i think he is adequate cover but he had a mare on saturday (along with everyone else). also agree that howson shouldn't play that deep. again, this is down to having no sodding holding player! snodgrass was playing on the wing against fulham - problem was, he was required to defend because we were on the back foot the whole time. nobody other than johnson (who's passing was diabolical) got amongst the opposition in midfield areas. everyone just stood off them. now the heat will have been a factor - that's not an excuse, i think that was a real issue - but they didn't work hard enough all across the pitch. THIS is what we should all be most annoyed about. yes we were setup wrongly and with hindsight i think most people felt it wasn't the right way to approach the game. hughton is still experimenting with his players. you can't just come straight in and make things happen with the click of his fingers. pre-season is not that long and it will take time for him to get the players organised. what i want is for him to find the right balance between attack and defence. lambert never quite mastered this, although it never did us any harm, but if we are to improve as a club, that balance will need to be found. we couldn't go on playing the way we were long term because sooner or later we were going to struggle. patience is required i'm afraid and if we aren't patient then it will get to the players (who will sense it) and then we really could be in big trouble. get behind the boys on saturday and lets bounce back
good post, agree with it all. Think Hughton will find it, could only take one player and a couple of tweaks. I know we got smashed by fulham but i genuinely think we're not far off. Hughton isn't a mug and he knows what he is doing.
what you have to remember is that it was a very, very poor performance. it isn't cos we don't have good players - they just played really badly and we can't afford to carry any players, let alone the whole flamin' lot of them!!
Sorry supers, i mean holt on his own doesnt work on his own upfront. Some of the best sides in the world play one uptop so must work but they dont take a negative approach to the opposition and they use there best and attacking players do what they do best. Saturday half the team was basically frozen out the pitch cause of how CH put the team out and who lined up where!
The fact Swansea have sold Allen for 15m is rather irrelevant to their transfer dealings this summer so I'm not buying the budget excuse at all. Barring the potential signing of Ki all their buys have been affordable for even ourselves.
We must not forget that Swansea got a reported £5m for Rodgers and co when they left for Liverpool. They then replaced him with a free agent, so that's another cool £5m to add to the coffers.
Well, I never thought we had particularly good players, but they did play to their maximum most of the time, and they believed in what they were doing. The chemistry, the feeling, the faith and confidence in what they do appears to have gone. I don't think they are convinced with what they're being asked to do.
