Good Charlton Live show last night from Louis &co. Available on podcast. Interesting to hear another perspective from knowledgeable fans.

    Jermaine Jenas <doh>

I've heard him described by BBC News as "a rising star" with a bright future (until now).
Possibly a replacement for Gary Lineker on MOTD in the not too distant future.

Sorry, but what were his star qualities?
I recall seeing him a few times on The One Show, and he seemed like a nice guy.
But nothing beyond that. Is seeming like a nice guy now all you need to do to be lauded as a star?

He was earning £200,000 a year at the Beeb apparently. That's not bad licence fee payers' money for being a nice guy a couple of times a week.

He assures us via an interview with the sun that he’s not a sex pest and is now in rehab.

To me anyone that says they are not a sex pest probably is. Amazing how many times these people who f up then go into rehab (aka hiding)

People who appear to be whiter than white normally harbour some sort of kink or dark secret.

Most of us have minor peccadilloes in our closets (I've got a whole walk-in wardrobe), but not at the expense of the licence payer.

Jenas is also claiming he's going to sue the BBC over the way he was fired.
Or that's what I read somewhere.

    Really?
The best thing he could do now is keep quiet, stay out of the papers and patch up his marriage.

His claim that these txt messages he sent were between "consenting adults" is also rather pathetic.
I understand he is desperate at this point to scotch any rumours that anything he has done involved minors.
He doesn't want to get tarred with the Huw Edwards brush.

But the women he texted did not consent to whatever it was he told them.
They called him out and complained.

Whatever he texted, it will probably come out in the end. What a damned silly boy.

Was just watching TOTP on BBC4 from 1996.

They played Simply Red's "official Euro '96 anthem" <doh>

Anyone remember it? What a piece of limp self-indulgent mush. Got to be the worst "football" song of all time :emoticon-0172-mooni

The song is (fortunately) utterly forgettable :emoticon-0172-mooni

The Black Grape tune and even the Three Lions '96 re-hash were much better.
They could not have been worse.

I've seen Mick Hucknall perform live on a couple of occasions. The guy really can sing. The Stars album is full of top tunes.

But yes, the Euro 96 sing is pure pap.

Agreed, Stars is a really decent album.

Simply Red should have chucked it in after that one, they were never going to do anything better.
Same as Jacko. He should have retired after the Thriller album.

The Bad album is a masterpiece and has definitely stood the test of time.

Earth Song is superb, as is You Are Not Alone.

For me, Jacko is the greatest of all time (up there with Streisand and Elvis). There was nothing he couldn't do. I forget all the nasty press and simply enjoy his craft.

I prefer Jacko's work up to Thriller, when he still had some ties to his soul & old school disco roots.
Billie Jean is his best I think, fantastic sharp sound, brilliantly produced and with a simple but memorable video.

Don't stop 'til you get enough, Rock with you and Off the wall are great tunes too for me.

Young Musician of the Year heats on BBC4 tonight was jaw-dropping. So many brilliant players. My tip is the Turkish harp player.

What with it being Halloween <monster> recently, I've watched a few horror movies on DVD.

It occurred to me that Stephen King's Pet Sematary, though rather gruesome and one of his scarier tales, has a rather obvious flaw.

If I was the father of a young family with a toddler, moving into a lovely rural house with a road at the bottom of the garden frequented by massive articulated lorries travelling at speed day and night, the very first thing I woudd do is build a bleeding fence around my garden.

The Exorcist is a very good film.

So is the first Omen film, the one with Gregory Peck & Lee Remick.

I see now the movie media is trying to create another Barbie/Oppenheimer combo for this season...

Out of Galdiator 2 and Paddington 3 <doh>

    I think they've named it Gladdington :emoticon-0160-movie

Ridley Scott has long since lost it.
But bad as these movies will be, they won't be as bad as Wolverine/Deadpool/Spiderman and all that Superhero rubbish.
Infantile cinema of the worst kind.
