Mr Bates Vs The Post Office is attractive a lot of attention but it's no surprise to anyone who reads Private Eye which has been reporting the details of the scandal for many years. Everyone should read it. I don't mind the political bias of the mainstream media but it's what they choose not to report that I have a problem with.
It is appalling that even today fewer than 100 of the criminal convictions obtained due to this scandal have been overturned. The snail's pace of coming to terms with this matter is a scandal in itself. Anybody who helped to cover this up while knowing those sub-postmasters were innocent deserves to go to prison. Come on Sir Keir. Tell the Country you'll get this sorted out quickly once we have a Labour Government. Even though the whole business began under Blair's New Labour (as far as I'm aware).
Best it's kept away from party politics. The blame lies with the Post Office and the Computer company. They hoodwinked politicians of all parties, who previously trusted the Post Office.
Well the Post Office and the Computer company, and the CPS, appear to be content to let the whole affair lie until everyone involved has died of old age. These people were small shop owners, independent business folk. Supposed to be the life blood of the British economy, paid endless lip service by politicians. Rishi's folks ran a chemist shop didn't they? Not so different from a small post office in terms of being a family run concern. Yet he seems to have done nothing to help the victims. There are too many big bully organisations trashing people's lives. OFSTED for instance, an utter disgrace. Seems to me the harder you work and the more you care about doing a good job, the more you get f**ked over. This should be one of the things a new Government seeks to put right. Sorry, drifted off-topic. I watched Wallace & Gromit the other day. Just happened to come on in the background. The wrong trousers (first one they did I think) So long since I'd seen it I had forgotten how good it was.

When it comes to tellybox shows, I only ever watch The Sweeney, Minder, Porridge, Only Fools, Rising Damp, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Office and the original Reginald Perrin. Pure class the lot of 'em. Favourite films to follow...
The first four, absolutely. Miami Vice is another - totally encapsulated an entire decade. Top films ? Needs a lot of thought, but off the top of me ‘ead - Saving Private Ryan, The Shawshank Redemption, The Great Escape….
The Professionals look very dated to me now when I try to watch it. The sexist macho attitudes of Bodie & Doyle are cringeworthy. For some reason The Sweeney seems to have aged much better in my view, despite mostly being the best part of a decade older. Perhaps it was just a better series. The first 'Sweeney' movie was a cracker too (not the recent re-make).
I used to always buy the Charlton video of the season's highlights. Always bought Junior the calendar too, the same players would nearly all still be there all year, players you could respect and be proud to have in the team. Highlights now?
