What Everton posted about their deal with Chang:

Chief executive Robert Elstone said: 'Everton has enjoyed a special relationship with Chang extending now for 10 years.
'In that period, we have grown to understand one another, delivered great work, helped achieve objectives and developed a truly great partnership and, indeed a friendship, based on mutual trust, respect and affection.
'We do not take our partnership and all that we have achieved lightly. Everton is very proud of our mutual success."

10 years work got the Everton deal, not a change of name. Hull City could, by doing a deal on the stadium and surrounding land, with Hull City Council increase it's income by £10 million over the next 4 years. All it takes is a phone call.

Last season (when we got automatic promotion for the first time) Hull City increased its income (excluding parachute payments and player sales) by £35,000. At the same time stock for resale went down by over £200,000.

I would have thought given all the publicity we'd have some Asian advertising by now. If they are excited about the club and the name change they'd have put their hand in their pocket by now, don't you think?

We compete with West Ham and their like by winning silverware and finishing above them in the league. None of the potential sponsors want anything to do with us if we get relegated, to me that says everything about the attraction of Hull Tigers. If we get relegated they'll find somebody new to give their money to.

Wow. One of those yanks has come on and has said something that is perceived to be a stereotypical of a US 'soccer' fan.

Hilarious character based comedy.

Maybe to you it's as simple a picking up the phone, but when you consider who's on the other end at HCC, and how they are plus what they'd expect for minimal input and maximum benefit and reward, its really not as simple as picking up the phone. Bear in mind how they acted in the past.

Yes Dr Allam could "be the big man" but why can't we see the HCC grovelling and making all the effort?

I sure as hell wouldn't want to have any dealing with those arseholes.

I know, they only built the KC, or did you miss that.

Geraghty offered City a joint venture to put Assem Allam's vision of a sports village into effect. Hull City Council want to develop Walton Street and West park. They'll do it with Assem Allam or without him.

The City Council sponsored the Allam Squash tournament and got it chucked back in their faces. They are not going to wait around for ever.

From what I understand, you don’t live in Hull and don’t live under HCC.

Can you name the cabinet, can you discuss current policies? Can you talk about the current projects HCC are involved in, their current successes and failures?

We’ve seen some massive successes in Hull over the recent year, yet the trad. arr. is still that HCC are incompetent Labour dinosaurs. This usually backed up by cherry picking a mixture of semi fact and fiction combined with sheer pig ignorance.

People attack Steve Brady for the way he ****ing talks.

So, do yourself a favour, don’t just repeat the same old bullshit people who know nothing continually trot out. Or these people who somehow believe that every public sector worker is somehow stealing a wage (not saying you have actually said this by the way).

Make a case for your argument and argue it well. If you don’t know about something – keep your trap shut about it.

PS I recall Brady publicly saying the door was open for talks. As far as I know AA’s wrath was aimed at Bayes and Geraghty. They are not THE council, just councillors.

Can Everton command a £5m sponsorship deal because they are higher up the league, have well known players and have a history of winning stuff? Or is it because they don't have the word "City" in their name?

Manchester City have a stonking shirt sponsorship deal. Makes you wonder how they pulled off that miracle, doesn't it?

I'm someone who slates our Labour council.

I regard them collectively as inept and incompetent. I believe they have let us down collectively for decades.

I believe that they lack expertise in attracting inward investment and presentation skills. I cringe when I hear them on the radio/tv.

I see Bayes has been credited personally for his role in the Siemens project. It's great to be known for something positive rather than an embarrassing matter with a youth in a Belfast hotel room.

As regards AA, sure it takes two to tango, but it should never have got to this point if there had been someone with savvy, nouse, personal skills (eg. AP or Alan Johnson) rather than the abrasive and simplistic Gerragemonside.

When were Everton last relegated? The early 50s?

Foreign investors will also check out the pedigree and record of a club: they don't want a dud or a yo-yo club.

Before I begin and to clarify any kind of bias you may suspect: I have never voted Labour in my life. I have supported them in certain situations but have never voted for them.

The HCC cabinet is often made up of normal working class people.

Forgive them if they haven’t studied PPE at Oxford.

Forgive them if they haven’t been well schooled in public speaking: to the media et al.

They have been elected by those who can be bothered in their wards.

Plus, you can only judge this cabinet since it has been in: it only recently gained back overall control from the Lib Dems.

Naturally, there’s going to be good and bad; it is going to make mistakes and there will be the incompetent even embarrassing amongst them.

But this cabinet has presided over some truly magnificent developments of late.

What I am against is a trend to just brainlessly slag off the council with no genuine argument behind it or any kind of knowledge.

I suppose what I'm really against, is people sounding off without any form of evidence (usually sounding off adopted opinions).

It only lost control because people were sickened by the 'special measures', underperforming council, the documented bullying and cronyism culture.

In that was it wasn't even really a pro libdem vote: just a 'we're sick of the Labour council: they're truly ****'.

As I posted a few days back: we've got all this Castle St upgrade , rail electrification and Siemens.....all under non Labour govt.

How will the 'posho Tories hate the North' brigade spin this locally?

I'd say we got it all in spite of the coalition government and if what I understand to be correct, that Tory actions were causing the initial delays/rethink by Siemens (though admittedly, fortunately, it turned out well in the end).

Also, you have previously pointed out the London-centric nature of our society and economy. Has this challenged your view then?

The coalition is cutting HCC's budget disproportionately (comparatively) too - hardly a cause to rally to the coalition.

I personally understand that the three Labour MPs also played a significant role in the electrification just as one for instance.

Are you suggesting that none of these successes are at all attributable to HCC?

Naturally, there have been mistakes of the past etc etc

But you cannot suggest that because a councillor is Labour, or a cabinet is Labour controlled, it is therefore intrinsically bad (as some do).

It’s the individuals, the collective, and they should be fairly judged on the now and evenly.

Perhaps if you truly can't see any positive, or a significant positive, then your ire should first be directed at the Hull electorate.

I think comrade Putin tipped the balance for SIEMENS, lots of other factors have fluctuated in the last few years but surely the EU now have woken up the folly of relying on Russia for energy?

Don't think the Tories or any political party can claim credit for it- just saying it's on non Labour watch.

I also note that Hull Green Port got 450 jobs but Paull in EY got 550 ! And Parnaby not crowing or bragging.

If Hull's budget is getting cut disproportionately, you would need to go back and see how these figures were arrived at? Maybe we got more subsidy than other places and now we're only getting what others have been getting? It's difficult to get concrete info on these figures and how they were arrived at.

It seems odd that Hull's Labour Mps were unable to influence electrification matters when Prezzer and Johnners were in the Cabinet? And now their work is seen as being crucial in getting it?

Bloody hell, I have read the posts on here and some are the normal ****e, but some are really deluded and pseudo-intellectual claptrap.

I am against the name change and have been from the first underhand indications (despite the denials) that it was actually taking place. I was pro-Allam until I realised, at that same time, that they were deliberately being dishonest and manipulative. I have not intend to change my mind, nor do I believe it would enhance my stature or make my decision making credibility more credible, if I did. What a total load of claptrap, backed up by unsubstantiated bullshit.

We know this is about a spat with HCC, so to go into denial is juvenile.
We know that any half-decent marketing company can leverage the nickname 'The Tigers' and the historic name Hull City AFC.
The Everton argument has all the credibility of a wet fart.
This praise of Ehab Allam is shallow, poorly constructed and ****ing embarrassing for those spewing it out.

You position-shifters and excusers are exactly the ****ers these two manipulators are targeting - ****ing shameless, not a full set between you; just splinters in your collective arses.

The only thing that has changed is that real professionals have taken a look at this and unanimously said it is bollocks. I'll not go into the shameless ballot and the misdirection of the interviews, as it is pointless when you can't understand the most basic principle - honesty.

I have always argued for a radical restructuring of the FA, but trying to divert blame to the FA, for our owners dishonesty, is a desperate measure.

They have a UK market that they're presumably trying to grow as well. They might not be at the Carling/Stella/Fosters level of awareness/sales volume, but at minimum you can get it from Tesco, so I'd expect the other supermarkets to have it as well. We've also had cases given to us by one of our clients after a job in the past, and I believe that client is the company responsible for brewing it over here rather than it being a mainland Europe location for all their European production and the UK importing it from there.

I really do not want to get into a political debate on here, it's not the place for it, but allow me to just clear up a few things for you.

Nope, I don't live in Hull nor am I directly affected by HCC decisions.

My views on them are based on discussions over the effects of their decisions on my friends and family who live in Hull. I also keep up to date with local politics because it's an interest of mine. Interestingly, my family and friends views are exactly the same as Blampers, and match what I've heard and read, which is why I hold the same views as him on HCC. Be funny if we're related...

For the record, where ever I have been in the world, I always vote, and I have always voted Labour. If another party appealed to me, I would vote for them, but thus far in my life none have. Same for the majority of my family.

I really hope you're not suggesting I look down on public sector workers because that would be strange in the extreme.

I find it odd that you seem on the one hand to celebrate the fact that the HCC Labour members are decent, working class people, doing their best without the benefit of a privileged life spent in Universities etc, then go on to say you've never voted for them. Seems either slightly contradictory or condescending. I realise that any subtle nuances can be lost while typing on a forum so I'm actually just filing that as "bemusing". I am extremely proud of my working class background, I never hide where I came from and will always consider myself working class regardless of anyone else's views on the subject.

I find it hard to reconcile people slating the Allams as stubborn and unwilling to negotiate whilst ignoring their arguments for being that way in respect of the KC and further, not holding the HCC for their terrible record in this sorry debacle.

I just wanted to set the record straight on my stance, I genuinely do not wish to get into a long debate on politics, but hope this clears up your questions.
