I disagree LTT.
Ehab expressed for the first time (even Burnsey says this) the amount of additional benefit that the Allams believe will come from changing the name. He gave a perfect example, Everton's shirt sponsor does not have a market in the UK and they earn 5 million from it. I had felt in the past that there was no plan and this was just part of an ego trip or at worse a spat with the council. Those may play a part but they are not the lead.
We have had posters on using shirt sales as examples that don't work, but there clearly are deals to be done is we have a USP and the fact that the Allams are focusing on that is a positive sign.
I dont think that now the sun shines from Ehabs arse, both he and Assem have made errors that are quite frankly horrific, but I now understand the situation better.
What Everton posted about their deal with Chang:
Chief executive Robert Elstone said: 'Everton has enjoyed a special relationship with Chang extending now for 10 years.
'In that period, we have grown to understand one another, delivered great work, helped achieve objectives and developed a truly great partnership and, indeed a friendship, based on mutual trust, respect and affection.
'We do not take our partnership and all that we have achieved lightly. Everton is very proud of our mutual success."
10 years work got the Everton deal, not a change of name. Hull City could, by doing a deal on the stadium and surrounding land, with Hull City Council increase it's income by £10 million over the next 4 years. All it takes is a phone call.
Last season (when we got automatic promotion for the first time) Hull City increased its income (excluding parachute payments and player sales) by £35,000. At the same time stock for resale went down by over £200,000.
I would have thought given all the publicity we'd have some Asian advertising by now. If they are excited about the club and the name change they'd have put their hand in their pocket by now, don't you think?
We compete with West Ham and their like by winning silverware and finishing above them in the league. None of the potential sponsors want anything to do with us if we get relegated, to me that says everything about the attraction of Hull Tigers. If we get relegated they'll find somebody new to give their money to.
