The original story was it was a Syrian jet, most of the media reports are based on social media gossip atm and photos of 2012 and 2013 plane downings have been circulating.

The story atm is it could be either a russian or syrian jet. The media of course just went with Russian jet.

Even a mentally challenged frog can see the answer is rather than NATO and Russia sending weapons into Syria but between them should be preventing weapons getting into Syria, no weapons no fighting.

But where is the profit in that..

I dunno, but NATO AND Russia an pretty much prevent any weapons entering Syria. The Saudis should be kept out of this.

I mean, is NATO now only for smashing more or less defeneceless states like Iraq Afghanistan? The Jihadis have been running amok in Iraq and Syria committing more war crimes than 100 Assad's could and meh.. apathy, the same jihadis start hammering the Kurds, again meh, actually NATO killed over 100 kurds with airstrikes and claimed they were ISIL <doh>
NATO did nothing as jihadis threatened and then took bases full of US military equipment, operations rules demand that the equipment be destroyed if there is a real possibility it could fall into enemy hands and yet, fill yer boots lads. They have drones that could have easily done the job. <doh> That was either strategicaly decided or epically stupid, I really doubt it was the latter.

We know of the CIA MI5 running of weapons to Turkey then Syria through the US consulate in Benghazi that was attacked, it was it is suspected that at that point CIA amd MI5 lost control of the situation with the rebels and ISIL got beefed up with a supply from Libya but more importantly got the hardware to roll over Iraq. All while Ukraine was happening as it turns out. Coincidence I am sure, it had nothing to do with keeping Russia busy while they tried to quickly smash Assad. They nearly managed it, Assad was all but done when the Iranians and Russians showed up.

Everyone knows where the oil is extracted and refined, yet no one does nothing. These jihadis have banking, viral videos and a social media presence, all undectable and absolute nobodies. fools and delusional idiots can run off and join them too it seems, it is THAT easy apparently given all the media of kids being arrested for "preparing for terrorism" any old 14 year old can go and join them, you'd think they'd be infested by infiltrators by now.

Add to that the fact US allies are not being attacked in the region by the jihadis.

The UN and NATO\Russia have more than enough resources to completely block all but the smallest weapons getting into Syria. Instead they are trying to put out a fire with petrol.

Y'all know why the media and the "western nations" are acting like they are?
Russia has taken out about 40% of ISIL infrastructure in just one ****ing week in Syria.

Look up Operation Able Archer. Some of us have lived through things we were better not knowing at the time. I also remember the Blur v Oasis battle for #1 in the 90's. I am a survivor..... so far.

    Let's not forget the

Norwegian rocket incident 25 January 1995

Luckily Boris Yeltsin was sober, for a change, that day.

I was lucky enough to miss out on that. Though the history of it we are fed is nonsense.

Where you have to strong powers both with the capability to knock the other out it may start with conventional war but if either side faces utter defeat they will use their last resort, guaranteed. So a Russia US war will end with nukes, it doesn't matter who else has nukes at that point as those two have enough to take care of us all <laugh>

If you have a huge arms industry you have to sell them somewhere. I often wonder whether the likes of USA & Russia get involved in these issues just to test their new weapons systems in a real war scenario.

That was the basis for a whole comedy routine from the late, great Bill Hicks.

Here is the Sunday Times reporter telling it like it is about journalism at the Times, and the rest tbh
After his piece in the Times about Snowden giving data to the Russians was utterly shredded as bollocks. this is what he said.
