I am the world's biggest Bowie fan. Seen the Serious Moonlight tour in 1984, and again at Wembley in 2002. Back in the day, my first proper concert was Mick Ronson and The Spiders at the Coulston Hall. We all thought the great man might make an appearance, but he had run off to the US by then to be a soul boy. I am the only person I know who has never met him. I have been in the same studio, i even signed to the same record company only for him to change a month later. Guess he must have known I was there :-( Otherwise, I have toured the UK with Pearl Jam, The Cult, The Damned, The Mission among many others, and Pearl Jam we found the most down to earth and unaffected and admirable bunch of the lot - also the best live band I have ever seen by a distance. I've seen a lot of live bands, so maybe that is fair praise
Shiny, I am over 50, but I record and mix the Metalhammer and Classic Rock awards shows every year for TV, and am quite au fait with most of the loudest rock and metal acts new and old. The fact is, its the younger generation who want the music turned down because theyre so inside their own hoodies that they dont know how to rock n roll. Believe me mate, there is nothing I would like more than to meet a kick ass rock n roll band of your generation who were loud, and who could actually play their instruments rather than relying on studio pyrotechnics to produce a sound. 'til then, guess you'll have to ride home on the ripples like the rest of us...
Rock n roll? Not really to my taste. I reckon music has got a lot better over time. Don't get me wrong there are loads of classics from the late 80's and 90's I like but anything further back is just terrible. Have a listen to this. Good lyrics, Addicted to this song atm and Jay Zs new album.
