Going against Stick which is something I rarely do but I fancy:

3:00 Exeter - Presenting Arms.

Good luck all.

One week to go!

Wasn't he going through what I can a Sam Thomas spell at the time? Lack of confidence and winners?

He was in the doldrums at the time and his riding was very erratic.

He did actually ride a festival winner last year On Salut Flo in the Mildmay Of Fleet and gave it a smashing ride to be fair.

Nass I think Stick is having a pop at you!!

Cheltenham now officially good to soft.

Claisse says bits and pieces of rain between now and the opening race could total upto 15mm.

Good to soft looking likely? Or a tad softer?

GD/SFT will be the description on day one (if the f/c is correct) and everyone will describe it as good safe jumping ground with a lovely cover of grass but riding a little dead!!

We call that a Nassau spell

<party> I am going to the festival, you aren't <party>

EW bets for today

Exeter 3.00 - Henok 10/1 (Sticks)
Exeter 3.30 - Pericoloso 16/1 goes well at exeter and will benefit from having Tom Scu on board, well in the weights
NewCastle 2.20 - Matthew Riley 11/2 comes back after almost 2 years off, will walk this is if he is 10% of the horse he used to be. Saver on The Flaming Matron 40/1 who is weighted 21lbs better off for 17L on one of the fav's in the betting RR on a formline through Doyly Carte.

(Seriously, I wish they'd lead that clown who 'performs' in that awful Ladbroke ad. away, like for good!).

Surely not, we had six last year with a similar sort of feel with Cue Card and Al Ferof playing the Overturn and Arvika positions. I say we will have five runners, the problem with this race is that those who have a mark of 150ish are unlikely to run into a place and may as well go for the Grand Annual (His Excellency for example gets 11st 1 in the GA) and any yard who has two good horses over the trip will probably re-route one to the Jewson.

It may be regretable, but entirely understandable. Simonsig is nailed on for this, with Overturn booked for second place. And as you say, trainers doubled up, may re-route to the Jewson. In fact Arvika Ligeonnaire, who is entered in both would, imo, be better suited to the Jewson and I'd be on him like a shot, but the betting suggests he is Arkle bound. I'm considering breaking my own betting rules (odds on, no bet) and taking the 4-6 about Simonsig, so confident am I that he will laugh at Overturn as he sprints past him up the hill.
