I feel for the owners.Perhaps just have some fun with the horse and enjoy it.
Rainbow View,are you really being serious about a step up in distance?I think you must be saying it in jest as it looks as if its just not good enough,unfornate but true.

Think you are being a bit pessimistic! Its had 2 runs so far, and if what the lads were saying about him galloping all over Mantuana is true then this horse certainly has enough ability to at least continue racing. If De Sousa has been riding out and has ridden him tonight with the instructions " try and win but don't flog the horse if its not right" then that, coupled with his work at home, at least show the horse has some ability. I think you are a bit out of order with your remarks, considering you know the owners post here and its only the horses 2nd run ever! Something may not have been right, the horse may need the experience and it may be a case of he doesn't act on the AW.

Think you owe the lads an apology as you are out of line.

Sorry ,i did not mean to sound derogatory,as if you read my post correctly you will see i felt genuinely that the horse hasnt shown anything -as yet ,on the race course.I sincerely hope it does.
I also hope there was not something amiss with it,who in their right mind would want anything to be wrong?.
As in all sports,theres a great deal of difference between preperation and actually producing the goods on a "match day".
All the best to the horse and folk associated with it,no malice was intended whatsoever.

She broke OK and was close up behind the leaders for 2 furlongs but by halfway it was fairly obvious she wasn't enjoying it and came under pressure about 2 out. From thereon she started going backwards and the jockey let her come home in her own time about 30l behind the winner. One would have to wonder where she might go next. She may have hated the going; it looked a bit sloppy to me. Hopefully she is OK but it is possible she might be a bit lame tomorrow, which would explain the way she dropped back so quickly. A real shame but let's hope she's fine and better luck next time.

Evening all. Just in the door from Southwell.

Firstly sorry to anyone who backed her. I dont think we were too bullish, we only passed on what we were told by the trainer.

We certainly dont need any sympathy!! Owners that lose horses to injury or worse need sympathy, certainly not us thanks!!

We know we didnt buy any Frankel, we brought a horse to have a bit of fun with and hopefully win the odd race along the way. You can always dream and we havnt given up yet! For me it has been fantastic. We had a great day out at Catterick and Southwell tonight was also very enjoyable. Its about far more than the horse, its about the experience, the people you meet and the amount you learn / hear about whats going on. A winning horse is a bonus. I travelled 5 hours today, got soaking wet only picked one winner and lost money but would do it again tomorrow at the drop of a hat.

On to the horse.... she is fine as far as we know which is the most important thing.

She didnt like the all weather at all (especially not the deep stuff at Southwell) and her action doesnt suit. We knew that before the race but the run of the horse in the first was a big positive. That one clearly suited better to the course. DDs dam did win on sand once too.
She broke well although didnt have the speed to keep up early, lost heart and faded. Apparently she was always very competitive when being broken in andso being that far behind looked like she gave up. SDS did exactly the right thing and let her cruise home at her own pace.
In the paddock she looks quite good, very calm and certainly not small. Others thought so and backed her on the course into 8s in places.
Its now up to the trainer to work out whats next, definately a step up in trip and definately on turf. Ideally a stiff 7F somewhere like Beverly I would think. Will probably scope her too and thinking about a tounge tie next time out.

Cracking response Don, im sure you will have many more happy days ahead, i can vouch for how well and calm she looked in the Parade Ring at Catterick, didnt seem phased at all, maybe shes a little too chilled out, either way she looks a lovely horse

Thanks don,really glad you enjoyed your evening and your post just about sums up what i was trying to say ,but i wrote it poorly,earlier on.It must be great to have something to do with owning a horse and as you say,a place or a win is an unexpected nice bonus.Just the buzz of being connected with a horse and all the rest that goes with it must be fantastic,a feeling not many of us will experience.

Thanks for that report Don. So glad she's fine. I thought she wasn't enjoying that ground. Despite not liking the ground she still managed to keep pace for the first 2 furlongs so I'm sure she'll go better on ground she likes. Glad you enjoyed the experience. Hope you have lots of fun with her and look forward to cheering her to victory one day.
