Afternoon, troops. Hope all are well. There is Consternation with a capital ‘C’ at the coalface right now as news spreads that Tesco have increased the price of their ‘lunchtime meal deal’ from £2.50 to £3. Cor blimey, we could get shut down tomorrow and I don’t think some of the old tops would be as animated and outraged as they are right now.

Anyway down to ‘brass tacks’ and its a no bet day for me today. Although Goodwood hosts some decent fare with the highlight being the ‘Stardom Stakes’. What a lovely name for a race for 2YO’s by the way. Will be keeping a very close eye on the heat though as Steeler reappears after his excellent 2nd behind Dundonnell at York 13 days ago. My regular readers will know that I am a huge fan of the latter and hope that old boy Johnston’s charge can emphatically, and I do mean emphatically, boast the form of not only the ‘Acomb Stakes’ but the fledgling stud career of my old fave Raven’s Pass. However, at 1/2 he’s not a bet for a humble working man such as myself.

One who is likely to be though is Tom Symond’s Foxcub in the ‘lucky last’ at Hereford tomorrow. Keep an eye out for him, people. The long odds-on favourite in the heat has decent Listed form to his moniker but Foxcub could certainly be the one in the contest to give him a race.

Jeff: <laugh> Dexter can breathe a sigh of relief, I ain't his dad! But I am my daughter's, for sure. She's as mean as me sometimes, but most of the time as nice as her mama.

Erm, I've never tried film-making, but you have a point, would probably have been of the latenight horror kind? <monster>

How about a 21f maiden hurdle at Downpatrick? How desperate is that? I spent an hour or so going over the race and came away scratching my mellon. It's a shocker. Plenty of chances though. So I lobbed on the side of price.

    DOWNPATRICK 18:00.

    4. Clooney Eile. 40-1.
    9. Nuggets Of Wisdom. 14-1.

    Each way if possible.

Cyc: Back to business, had a look at the 18:00 at Downpatrick too, and will go for Cool Annie. Would have to go on breeding inasmuch as I have always liked the progeny of Old Vic in this sort of event. Distance ideal, Irish going description of 'good' probably means there is just a bit of squelch in the ground (?), and although she's now a 10-y-o, her form (including P2P) seems pretty fair? <ok>

Cyc: Her current best price of 9/1 fairly reflects her chance in this race; just a sporting wager, that's all! Heck of a race to predict the winner, as you say, but you never know with the ladies! <ok>

    Afternoon all,

Just one for me today, in the opener at Leicester. Jamesbro's girl looking for a four timer here and hopefully give me some money for later on in the afternoon. Liked Steeler but at 1/2 will leave it alone but the other Johnston horse in the 3.15 at Muss, hopefully wins today. Centrifugal.

Love the ladies. Especially the ones with ample cleavage. I sometimes wonder if I missed out as an infant. <laugh>

Old boy Starspangledbanner could have his first European run over a mile on Sunday at The Curragh. He's only ever run in Europe over 5-6 furlongs. Fascinating entry by Mr O'Brien as there were many urging him to up the horse in trip back in 2010.

Rather taking run on debut from the third,Orator,at Killarney.

That was probobly a decent heat but the fav looked a right old dog and definitely didn't put it all in.

Swanny are you sure you're not just syaing that to avoid buying me forty odd years of Chrimbo and Birthday pressies.I'll have the CSA and Jeremy Kyle onto you!
