The main point we can all agree on is that there's countless numbers of positives for banning / capping them, and pretty much no positives of keeping them as they are. In this day and age too, it is the next thing in line, mental health awareness prominence is also big on the agenda. I agree it is very much a more wooly coat / molly coddling society these days, i mean people get arrested for tweets ffs and I don't agree with a lot of it, but this FOBT **** is a big issue for a whole host of reasons I already specified (increased debt, crime, violence, robberies, suicides) and there's only positives to come from a cap. As Oddy said, even though it won't change everyone's ways or mentalities, it should at least remove it for some current addicts and potential addicts.. Which thus helps improve communities, save police from dealing with more crime, hospitals from injured people, train drivers from having less people jump in front of them etc etc.
Slightly off topic but on the money laundering subject -, the amount of reports I've heard lately from people who gamble online having had their accounts closed / frozen by Barclays and Natwest for suspicion of Money Laundering is insane, so I'd be very wary of gambling online with a Barclays/NatWest account.!!
Here too Ron - they have special "smoking bars" in Berlin, I should know, there is one right underneath our flat. I can forget using the balcony in summer, as clouds of cigarette smoke drift across it every evening Have these bloody shisha bars started cropping up in France too? Seems to be one on every corner here ...................
One law I would like that obviously will never happen is bookmakers to not be able to ban / restrict / limit your account just for winning legally. Very concerned when my system starts tomorrow about this because all the bets will be £5 level stakes, so if it shows a nice healthy profit as expected although there might only be 2-3 bets a week they'll probably pick up on it. It's why I was thinking of just doing it in the shop, but then I lose the BOG factor. Thoughts?
It depends which shop you go in. The one I work for has 12 guaranteed BOs a day, plus you get 3 times the price for one winner on a Lucky 15 (providing there isn't a non runner) The amount of times we have paid out where the bonus is worth a lot more than the basic return on the ticket is unbelievable
Just a thought. If a wee grope was the norm 20-30 yrs ago as someone said, why has there been such an increase in women in the workplace? just kidding a wee bit
Man Look @ 12s, lovely. A winner at last and I missed it. Was walking round the local grammar school, the one that Jezza went to and hated and thus wants to get rid of them. From what I could see full of nice kids from all over the place with a passionate Head Teacher not fixated entirely on academia.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not in favour of the machines, I just don’t like this culture we live in where no one takes any responsibility of their own actions. A good friend of mine has gotten himself in trouble so many times playing them but he’s fully aware what they’re all about, he convinces himself there’s a pattern to the number sequence on the roulette and just plays them for days on end. He’s had some huge wins £6k plus but he’s also blown his families savings more than once. He’s sold a car to fund it and stupid **** like that. He keeps barring himself from all shops for 6 months when it comes to a head or his wife threatens to leave. Then after the 6 months he’ll sign himself back in and just do Lucky 15s on horses for a while but it’ll always lead to going back on the roulette and getting himself in trouble. Two weeks ago he started on the horses again after his latest ban and so far he’s managed to stay away from the roulette but it won’t last, it’s the same pattern of behaviour every time. And I can say this because he’s a friend but he’s a ****ing idiot.
Is that betfred? You use to do all best odds between 11 and 1, that would of been ideal. Can see why it changed though Do shops / head office monitor bets though, like tell by a persons writing or consistent stake and then ban them from the shop?
Stick, Just got in from Clatterbridge, went for a pint and hit the bookies in time for the 3.35 at Bangor. Couldn't remember the horse you tipped up. But remembered the colours. (Not). Hammered the King horse, shouted it home in the pub... ...I backed the wrong one!!! Top tipping...now home and hope youre right in round 2!
