Chepstow 8.00 Evening Spirit 11/2 Showed plenty of promise in 3 starts last season, finishing strongly at Newmarket on debut before 2 solid efforts on the AW with minor excuses on both occasions. Her dam Evita Peron was a classy type who didnt make her debut until her 3yo season and Evening Spirit looked the type to do better as a 3yo. I think they will be disappointed if she isnt up to winning a 0-75, looks like they have found her a good opportunity and she ought to be a class above this level.
Given how Stick likes to back the horses I've put in Bustinos thread, here is one for him 5.05 Single She's got a Prescott "improver" to beat, but I think this is what she needs in terms of trip and the improvement with stepping up in trip is the reason I like her for the season.
I see Buzz LY goes tomorrow. Poor thing is with his 5th trainer and this one is 0 from 44 on turf in the last 12 months
This Ed Walker chappy who doesn't seem to be rated on here might have another nice one running tomorrow by the name of Matthew Flinders. All the stats are against him (unsurprisingly) but it will be interesting to see how this one gets on. Has an unadjusted Timeform rating of 86P
Ed Walker had this to say about Matthew Flinders:- "He ran very well on his debut at Haydock and is a gorgeous big colt who has taken time to come to hand. If we got going in the spring, he might have been aimed as some good three-year-old races but that opportunity has passed and he runs at Doncaster on Tuesday. He has bright future." 7/4 Fav generally. Thumur has a similar profile and could improve for the step up in trip. His odds of 7/2 are more rewarding looking. In the 1.00 Race She Do is favourite but quite tight odds. 11/10 generally but her last race, where she was second was a 4 runner affair that was virtually a match between She Do and the odds-on favourite who won. I would rather take the Hannon newcomer Anghaam. This is a filly by Frankel out of 1000 Guineas winner Natagora, who was French trained. Like her late mother Anghaam is a grey and hopefully she can improve the Dam's record, as only Mankib was much cop from her progeny. 1.00 Doncaster Anghaam 3/1 3.30 Doncaster Thumur 7/2
Chelsea/Stick Any views on The Cruising Lord today? Back into a handicap and yard flying high... looks a big price doesn’t he?

6.00 Chepstow...without Bodak Yellow Proclaimed Each Way @ 16-1 [Bet 365]..3 places Unusually for a 2yo from this stable missed the break on debut
15:15 Musselburgh - Lady Scatterley (Stable seems to be churning out a few winners now, and longshot places too. Selection ran well LTO and early betting (5/2) would suggest she has a good chance in this event. On breeding, should certainly stay this middle-distance, and has won over it already. Going should be OK too. Stable first-choice jockey, David Allan, on board.) 15:45 Musselburgh - Little Ted (Good win LTO, quite capable of following-up. Best odds 7/2 with Bet365, but I will probably have to accept the 'generally on offer' 100/30. David Allan on board again.)
and we didn’t even get word from the moles in the yard!! Hope that horse wins a big handicap this year, it’s got the potential!!
The vibes were bad for Anghaam, with a drift from 3/1 out to 9/2. She ran a puzzling race, seeming to have enough pace to hold a position early but when asked it looked like she would just fade down the field. Instead she started staying on again and actually was gaining in the closing stages. It will be a near certainty that she steps up to 7F next time and some of the Frankel progeny seem to need a bit further than you might think. With this experience under her belt Anghaam should have a good chance if getting the extra furlong to travel next time. The Fav was always just going to wear them down but although only really pushed out to win it she wasn't that impressive given her previous experience advantage.
In the 3.30 Doncaster I wasted a quid each-way on Scudamore. A name more associated with the National Hunt scene but the gelding is by Dawn Approach out of a Dubawi mare. He played no role when last on his previous start but that was surely a totally inadequate trip at 6F and stepping up half a mile should help given that his dam raced over 12F plus trips in a short career. Probably a lost cause but 200/1 on a horse named Scudamore was a fun bet. 3.30 Doncaster Scudamore 200/1 EW "I believe in miracles"
Decent looking sort Matthew Flinders. He was confidently backed and was the pick on looks. Seemed to jump the winning line but hopefully didn't hurt himself. I don't think he will be going over hurdles just yet and he looks sure to step up in class now. Thumur just seemed short of the tactical pace and he plugged on but was never going to trouble the winner. His future surely lies at 12F now. Scudamore beat a few home but I reckon Peter could have more pace than him. Maybe English King gave Matthew Flinders two stone and a ten length start on the gallops and still reeled him in hard held. Are the vibes good Ron?
