Good Luck <ok>

5.35 Ascot- DECLARATIONOFPEACE- 4/1

This imo is the NAP of the week (excluding the odds on) could be a typical War front 2yo with hell of a lot of speed and looks to improve every run as a 2yo Will relish the rattling ground and won easily on the AW lto. Looks like the winner to me and 4/1 I was all over!

With a small ew on James Garfield @ 40/1 who imo looks massivley overpriced

Let's have a bash at the first day through the card:

230 - Rather play for the each way money here. THIS IS US (on at 40s) and MISS TEMPLE CITY (on at 33s) the two that I thought were overpriced.

305 - RAJASINGHE (12s). Fits the trends, form solid, should go well on the ground. Couldn't find much in the form between this one and Brother Bear so at the prices I'll chance Rajasinghe.

340 - LADY AURELIA (on at 4s). Just think the potential is there for her to blitz them. Small saver on GOLDREAM (at 14s).

420 - CHURCHILL. Always does enough, not buying into the arguments about Barney Roy being the one to take out of the guineas.

500 - YORKIDDING (14s). I know the national hunt raiders do well in this, but I just think they all fancy a bit of cut in the ground. Selection has always shaped as if needs further and form is pretty rock solid.

535 - Ran out of steam and couldn't be bothered with this one, seemed like one lottery too far.

No luck out of that lot and I'll be holding my peace for the rest of the week

Think someone already put this up. (Apologies to who did). Skybet money back as a free bet if your horse loses in first race. Don't mind if i do. Mutakayyef for me. Good luck all

Ribchester looks a decent lay in the first, plenty of fair chances in the race.
Churchill banker of the day for me

Ascot tomorrow picks:
14.30 Cougar Mountain ew
15.05 De Bruyne Horse/Arawak
15.40 Marsha
16.20 Barney Roy
17.00 Thomas Hobson
17.35 Elizabeth Darcy

Agree with Talal. There's a chorus of punditry saying that Ribchester's past the post, but it's worth taking a closer look. He's never won on ground quicker than good, and I remember his connections saying immediately after the Lockinge that 'the crucial thing' had been the overnight change of going. Add in that he's drawn one of a biggish field on the straight course in the first race of the meeting - where you haven't been able to assess the draw - and you do begin to wonder if you really want to back him at odds-on (1.94 as I post).

No doubt that he's by some way the best horse in the race if he's on his A-game and under his optimum conditions, and I can't name one to beat him. But I'd rather lay than back.

Agree about Churchill, too. If neither had run since our Guineas, I'd have picked Barney Roy. But I thought Churchill looked chillingly efficient in Ireland (and didn't get enough praise for it) and if it comes to tactics, I know which jockey I'd want. I confidently expect that Talal and I will be the two richest people on the forum this time tomorrow.

I've looked and I can't find anything to beat Ribchester. Only the ground perhaps, but he wouldn't be running if they didn't think he'll go on it.

Bombproof imo. Famous last words, probably. And short priced favourits at this meeting are the fast way to the poor house.

Still what the heck, all in @ evs, **** or bust.

2.30 Miss Temple City 28/1 e/w (Looks the only other group 1 miler in the race to me and gets her ground)

3.05 Murillo 7/1

3.40 Marsha 10/3 (savers on Alpha Delphini 22/1 e/w & Ardhoomey 25/1 e/w)

Betting with some kahunas <ok>

Good luck !!

Can't understand why you would lay him. Best horse in the race, actually the only real group one horse in the race. Can understand taking a chance with something at a price but laying him?

My Ascot Value Selections ( AKA Don't touch with a barge pole )

2.30 Miss Temple City
3.05 Prince of the Dark
3.40 Goldream
4.20 Lancaster Bomber
5.00 Star Rider
5.35 James Garfield

Enjoy.

John Velazquez is a legend and I'll be keeping an eye on him this week. Rides for Wesley ward in the second

Mutakayyef gets his ground and likes the track
Both american raiders come with group 1 winning form and will love the ground
Think dropping Deauville back in trip is a good move.

Couple that with his draw and what I think needs a bit of cut to perform to his best and I'm happy to lay at odds on. <ok>

He'll go and bolt up now <laugh>
