Rather have a wager on the championship games this evening, today's racing is pants

In the 5.25 Yarmouth Amber Island looks short enough to oppose.

The Charlie Appleby colt was third on debut and can be expected to improve but he was only half a length ahead of Festive Star in 4th place and Simon Crisford's son of Golden Horn is open to improvement himself, so he seems much better value at 7/2 than Amber Island at 5/6.

Pocket Square is bred to be decent but so many of Charlton's newcomers need the experience.

5.25 Yarmouth Festive Star 7/2

afternoon,fellas!

kempton,3 30:

MAYNE ran much better than his finishing position suggests last time out,and he wasnt beaten that far.but what makes him really interesting is the performance of the first two that day,who have both won their next start,so he looks very much progressive today.

I fancy one in the 8.05 at N.A, a mares h'cap hurdle.
Pola Chance is a French bred 3yo, has run in 2 juvenile hurdles here 4th & 3rd, she has a mark on 98 but the 3yo allowance appears to be 19lbs. Amongst an ordinary looking bunch that looks a big factor to me

brighton,4 10:

i backed AIR FORCE AMY a week ago at ffos las,and she travelled like the winner in the straight, only to be collared late on.if in the same vein of form today, she has a very decent shout to go one better.

Agreed but at first look you think there is no doubt.
I cannot understand Betfred and Skybet paying out on the runner up. It didn’t win and the correct result was called before the weigh in announcement.

Shows how much money they are making to be able to do that sort of thing. It shows how much punters get ripped off in general

Bookies were way off with Amber Island at 8/11 ten minutes before the race. He was available at 15/8 a few minutes later as money came for Pocket Square. Festive Star was quite steady in the betting and he had a ding dong battle with the favourite before getting on top in the closing stages. Pocket Square kept on for a promising third place but never looked like winning the race. The favourite was supported late but having him odds-on when he was only rated 1 lb ahead of the selection available at 7/2 seemed out of kilter. For once it paid off looking for better value. Will pay for a couple of bets tomorrow at York.
