    15:05 Ascot - Reckless Abandon

(Go along with other members who fancy this one too. Very fast, and apparently well-drawn. Will do for me today).

    GL all!

Is Royal Ascot the only sporting event that you would rather watch on the gogglebox rather than attend? It is for me!

Definately. I last went the year the course opened following redevelopment, and swore never again. I've been back to Ascot for a couple of NH meetings, but not for any flat racing, and this one I'd avoid like the plague. I'm not mad about sucking up to royalty, despise the English class system, and want to ast least get a good view of the track when I go racing. And whilst I have no objection to hordes of beautifully overdressed women getting drunk in the sunshine, that sort of thing is best confined to weddings.

Two main bets for me today, THUNDER STRIKE inthe Coventry who I took 12s about and BIG EASY in the jumpers bumper who I am on at 16s.

Would love to see the Cowell runners 1-2 in the sprint.

    I'm there on Thursday :D

    My Lucky 15 for today:

    3.05 Pearl Secret
    3.45 Mars
    4.25 Riverboat Springs
    5.35 Orgermeister

Interestingly, Riverboat Springs has changed hands since his eyecatching run at Epsom, having previosuly been owned by Chris Wright and the Hon Mrs Corbett, he now runs in the colours of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.

I've also had small each ways on KINGSGATE NATIVE and DUNDONNELL.

Yes, would certainly agree there. Shame really, as it's flat racing at its very best IMHO. Always enjoyed going to the regular flat meets, and the NH ones at Ascot, of course.

P.S. I know he'll make a damn fine go of it, but I do not envy Wooly's little job there at all. My imagination runs wild thinking about some of the conversations he will have!

Even worse for me, I don't like Ascot at the best of times. Something doesn't sit well with me, probably been spoilt by Glorious Goodwood, Sandown and the Festival.

£320 ready to roll out of bank account for next years membership. Value.

Goodwood is glorious, but bettingwise was always too great a puzzle for me. Remember once a member (real nice guy) on the old BBC606 passed on two winners from the John Dunlop stable, I believe it was. Had them in singles and a double (all win). Could not believe it as I was sure I had totally mogadored everything. Thanked the gentleman profusely afterwards! Did back the winner of the Stewards Cup once, at 33/1 ante-post, but that was a one-off!

Sandown was my hometown track, just loved the place and was always good to me finding a few winners.

Good morning all... A great looking day outside and a good looking day for the racing as well... Just to get into the spirit of the whole Ascot thing, here is where my 6 darts thrown landed for my selections...

    2.30 - Aljamaaheer, 12/1
    3.05 - Reckless Abandon, 11/2
    3.45 - Toronado, 4/1
    4.25 - Sir John Hawkins, 5/1
    5.00 - Lieutenant Miller, 12/1
    5.35 - Ogermeister, 7/1

Thrown in some sort of Lucky e/w bet... I wont hold my breath waiting for my winnings... Good luck to all who are indeed playing, and may the racing be as Royal as the occasion...<cheers>

Paddypower refunding all bets if Animal Kingdom wins the opener. I've plumped for Trade Storm at 12s so hoping the Meydan form holds up for one of them!

Any particular reason why Penitent is 50/1 in the QA when he's third highest rated behind the fav and 2nd fav ? Ran well lot at Epsom and a decent jock on board - worth an e/w bet surely.

I will probably bet mainly on the favourites today but at longer prices I like ALJAMAHEER in the 2.30, BUNGLEINTHEJUNGLE 80/1 in the 3.05 and BIG EASY in the 5.00 so will be doing all these each way

Am i the onlly one thinking that Shea Shea will rinse it up today! I can see alot of people on Reckless Abandon- but just cant be having him what so ever. This South African Speedster will wipe floor!! And if he doesnt then Swiss Spirit improving with every race will! lol
