At least Vautour had been holding up the prices in the Gold Cup - look at it now: Don Cossack 3/1, Djakadam,Don Poli & Cue Card all 4/1 <laugh>

Mullins has Don Poli and Djakadam entered for the race, no way was I going to back him ante post. Besides, both horses will get home over course and distance, I have serious doubts as to if Vautour ever will, I see him as another One Man - remember 1996 Gold Cup?

How's the weather up there, Oddy, sleeting like buggery down here. Think I'll try to watch most of the this big meeting's racing, and have a bash on Cue Card in the GC, no way will I desert him, does not owe me a red cent. Only one thing I've noticed over the years with the Cheltenham Festival, it is better to bet on something you really fancy, punting just for the sake of it is money down the drain at this meeting? That can be expensive 'fun'?

Anyway, I wish everyone an enjoyable and successful Festival!

If anyone has an iphone or ipad and are at work with blocked access to the racing, download "Puffin browser" and watch all todays racing for free.
You can also get "TUNEIN RADIO" which gives you free access to millions of radio stations and podcasts world wide (including Cheltenham Festival Radio, William Hill Radio, Betfair Radio etc etc) Some of the podcats on there are excellent too - trainers, jockeys and pundits aplenty!!

yeah I just noticed that - in one way I am pleased that I havent had a bet ante post but in another way they all look a bit short now....

in the Supreme Novices you can currently get a massive price on TOMBSTONE at 16/1 which I think is great value.
not done a lot wrong, and will appreciate the better ground. I can't ignore MIN either at current odds of 5/2

I am also going to take a chance on SOUTHFIELD THEATRE still available at 20/1 in the 2.50

the Champion Hurdle looks very open to me, and although Annie Power should probably win I think the 6/1 available on THE NEW ONE is better value.
since the festival last year he has only been beaten by Faugheen.

VROOM VROOM MAG I have been very impressed with this season and should win comfortably but at 16/1 THE GOVANESS should also be considered each way.

In the National Hunt Chase, Southfield Royale and Minella Rocco appeal due to the jockey bookings but I will take a chance on PONT ALEXANDRE who has had a few useful prep races this season and Mullins will have him spot on for this

2.50 Holywell - either this is a well handicapped horse aiming at the money or its run the last time was true to its current - if you look at that it should be tailed off again but I am siding with the well handicapped
3.30 MTOY - silly but always regretted not backing binocular in the day
4.10 Tara Point w/o fav - again blind faith backing - either PN has got her back to the level of 2014 where she would have an outstanding chance w/o fav or not
4.50 Pont Alexande - continuing the theme of backing horses on prevoius potential
5.30 Aloomomo - Throw in a fav to complete my Lucky 31 for day 1

Not sure what the idea is of having three more meetings on the same day as Cheltenham? I very rarely look at other meetings when a big meeting is on.

Which of today's races, do you think, will be the most competitive? The Champion Hurdle, from my perspective, looks a belter the more I look at the card.
    Come on, Camping Ground!
And which one has the biggest surprise potential ? I wonder ... that opener, Silver Concorde ? Maybe ...

The excitement is contagious, isn't it ?

The hood Tombstone wore on it's latest start is now left off, hope it's not a negative and he still runs well.

Have a great day everyone. Vautour decision is dissapointing given the misinformation. However I could never understand why he was being considered for GC he clearly didn't stay in the King George. Aloomommo is my NAP today.
