the betting told the story, think the 50/50 talk from the stable made Mullins and Ricci look honest, Fehily tailed him off from the start and he made a mistake at two out but the best horse by a mile won and I dont believe they "couldnt split them" for one minute, THEY knew, must have been a right few quid to put that from 6/1 out to 11/1, Min made a bad mistake but he was outclassed on the day, the form got smashed up last week and he turned out to be all hype
I see Betfred are going 10/1 about Altior for the 2017 Champion Hurdle, what an insult that is. Smashed the latest Mullins star 7 lengths and is trained by a guy who's won 5 Champion Hurdles. If they go down that route he will be a massive contender next year, regardless of wether Faugheen or Annie Power are around.
Looking at the form beforehand you could see Altior was light years ahead of all of them, and that's how it proved. 4/1 was a steal
and fair dooz to Annie, she absolutely outclassed some decent horses, 3/1 in the morning Hargam was probably the worst bet of my life
just had a look through the thread and have to say, fusion is like the equivalent of Nicholls telling Mullins he cant train, couldnt lace ROTOS boot, the audacity of this mug is beyond comprehension
I don't see the issue with tipping up favourites. If you consistently show a profit with your betting then it's irrelevant what price the horses you back are.
As I mentioned the other day lads, Buveur D'Air looks more of a stayer on pedigree and I think he could turn out to be another Oscar Whisky for the yard. Annie was exceptional, I definitely got that wrong with my "lay of the festival" (should have gone for Victoria Pendelton) Another landmark day for Mullins, I thought VVM was sensational (but probably didn't beat much). Hats off to Mr Henderson too - 1st and 3rd in the Supreme, and almost pulled of the ultimate "Lazarus" with MTOY. I bet he is happy Vaniteux is still in one piece after that crashing fall. Very sad to hear that 3 didn't make it back. RIP. Anyone who was there care to comment on the "New Cheltenham" experience? How did it compare to previous years?
It's only an insult if you look at the disgusting prices they usually offer on novice winners for next year's championship races. I think it's a fair price.
Big thumbs up from me Oddy, but in saying that i was only here for 2 days last year so not that familiar with the old set up. The upper viewing area on the first floor beside the Champagne/Owners bar gives a real view of the amphitheatre of the winners enclosure when they come back in. Annie got a magical reception Place is immaculate, money well spent and you couldnt fault it. I look forward to my second day today
