He's beaten the 160 rated Melon a neck and the 156 rated Mick Jazz 3 lengths with the 149 rated Identity Thief 9 lengths back in 4th. He's run to 161 in that race. Surely the lowest quality Champion Hurdle of all time?
I'd absolutely back Melon to reverse that form next year. He's 6 and has only run over hurdles 7 times including today. Effectively a novice hurdler running against his elders.
You can’t take that form at face value Bob, heavy ground and no pace, Faugheen like a fecking Skode in a Ferrari race and Melon got first run up the inside.
No pace? What were the sectionals? You had two vying for the lead and the fav taking it up turning in. Looked a very fair, normal CH pace to me (albeit on heavy) although I could be proven wrong. He’s definitely only run to a very low 160 rating unless Melon and Mick Jazz have turned themselves inside out.
heavy ground form is always suspect , sure the others got close , but class told , and on better ground the result would have been more emphatic
I know it’s suspect but you still have to rate it and that was a very low performance for a Champion Hurdle. Great race. Hugely enjoyable but very underwhelming.
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby... What a ride... No answer from Apple's there, just didn't have enough in the tank...
Very disappointing Apples Jade - had the feeling Jack Kennedy didn’t really know what to do at any stage of the race.
AJ certainly didn't look an easy ride today. Le Bag was looking as likely a contender as any until blundering the last. But Mullins just can't be denied at times.
I think you’ve nailed it Oddy. Very talented jockey but inexperience maybe won out today. She’s shown multiple times she’s far better than that run.
If you haven't already looked, take a wild guess at which odds on favourite was Alex Hammond's NAP She's already tweeted her selections for tomorrow if everyone wants a map of the minefield.
Glad those Ryanair ****s have won nowt ticket prices will be going up. Mullins is just different gravy
