Tuesday isnt a big day for me, thats Wednesday but of course you have to have a dabble on all the races.

My major fancy on day one is RATHVINDEN in the NH Chase. You want a top amateur on board for this, I guess Patrick will have to do.

At current prices the hotpot accy on day 1 (Getabird, Footpad, Buveur D'Air, Apples Jade) pays around the 13/1 mark. I think a sneaky score on that has to be the order of the day, just in case.

No rainfall so far today around cheltenham...blue sky could be seen today and a mild 14 degrees... so today has passed as dry....tonight might not be so lucky but let's hope not too much rain showers fall...
 
Done the 'obvious' favourites Acca from Getabird through to Might Bite with everything in-between just in case although I'm not expecting them all to win I'd kick myself for not putting it on if they did all somehow pull it off.

Got win bet on Paloma Blue in the Supreme at 12/1 (money back as free bet if loses)

£5 on Apple's Jade (MH), Samcro (BNH) & Cause of Causes (XC) all to win at 12/1

Then just done a £1 on each of the following silly bets:

Apple's Jade, Buveur D'Air, Footpad, Samcro all to win any race, MTOY, Min, Apple's Shakira, Might Bite all to place @ 33/1.

Altior, Apple's Shakira, Samcro to win and Faugheen, Might Bite, Supasundae to place in any race @ 33/1.

Melon to place in Champion Hurdle, Might Bite, Samcro and Apples Shakira all to win any race @ 50/1.

Getabird (Supreme), Sceau Royal (Arkle), Verdana Blue (CH) to place and Apples Jade (Mares) and Samcro (Ballymore) to win @ 50/1.

Altior, Apple's Jade and Samcro to win and Kalashnikov, Monalee, Native River and Santini to place in any race @ 50/1.

Will wait till tomorrow night to have a proper look at Tuesdays full card.

I see a couple of you fancy Vicente in the Ultima and I have been looking long and hard at him. With the ground conditions it will clearly turn into a real slog and if he is ridden prominently I can see him putting his undoubted stamina to good use. My worry is that this run is most likely his warm-up for the Scottish National and they will therefore drop him in and hope to get round and maybe snatch a place. I can't see them going all out for this.

The race is fiercely competitive as ever and I expect it to be a real stamina test in the ground. Gold Present could be exceptional but I worry about the weight on this ground and there are plenty who I just don't think are good enough and plenty who will struggle at the trip.

My 2 against the field are Vicente (assuming this is not just a prep) and the Pipe horses Ramses De Teillee who, given a clear round, is weighted to go very close.

I may well change my mind 15 times between now and Tuesday <laugh>

Supreme
Been hammering away at the 25/1 on First Flow all week since Kim Bailey said he'd run. His bare form possibly isn't the strongest but he has been visually very impressive. He's a big chasing type who's sure to keep improving.
Also have a little on Kalashnikov. Albeit he was beaten by Summerville Boy in the Tolworth, his win in the Betfair Hurdle was eye-catching. Not many novice's win big handicaps off a mark in the 140's.

Arkle
Saint Calvados had been a nice each way price at 8/1 after bolting up in the Kingmaker. His run style will test the jumping of these Novice's(particularly PM & BP). Is he better than Footpad? I'm not sure but the ground has come his way but he'll gave a bold sight of it.

Ultima
Gold Present looks the class horse in this but soft ground is a question mark. I thought connections would have scratched him and kept him for the National, but seeing as their leaving him take his chance they may not have the same concerns.
Cogry worth a each way stab on this ground. Has a decent record at the track(when completing).

Champion Hurdle
Impossible to oppose Buveir D'air with confidence so just a speculative punt on Faugheen in the hope he can show some of his old ability.

Mares Hurdle
La Bague Au Roi was one I fancied to run a big race in the stayers but they've decided to stick to Mare's company. She looks to have improved for the step up to three miles but she'll run a decent race at this trip. This isn't the deepest of races and although she is getting short for each way purposes, she looks a great bet.

National Hunt Chase
Mossback is the banker of day one. Looked sure to beat Jury Duty at Naas(who struggled with the hill) before falling at the last. He jumped a lot better at Navan when just getting touched off by Monbeg Notorious.

Close Bother's Novice Handicap Chase
Toughest race on day one to decipher in my opinion. The one which interests me the most is Tycoon Prince. He has run to a fair level on his three starts. I think he's reasonably well handicapped off 143. He looked likely to beat Any Second Now in the Irish Arkle before falling yet is better off at the weights here.

The best betting cities and the worst punting cities from Cheltenham Festival 2017 have been revealed.

With this year’s racing extravaganza about to get underway at the iconic racecourse, Oddschecker crunched the numbers to see who was thrifty and who was wasteful.

No surprises, Cheltenham comes in as the worst area to bet on the Festival, with visiting punters and locals losing an average of £93.85 per person.

Among the worst wagering cities is Birmingham, with it appearing that Brummies are not so thrifty when having a flutter.

In fact, out of every single bet staked in the West Midlands stronghold, a loss of -£43 was posted across the city.

That’s well below the national average of £2.43, although, not quite as bad as Aberdeen who lost around £84.75 per punter.

Among the top tipping cities are Liverpool, with it appearing that Scousers are more than knowledgeable with their punting.

In fact, out of every single bet staked in the Merseyside city, a profit of £23.86 was posted across the city – including all losers.

After all the hype we are almost there,and if I'm honest, I'm underwhelmed . Looking at the final declarations the cards look ****e. I mean five runners in the arkle.a lot of trainers blaming the ground. Ffs this is supposed to be a winter sport. This multiple entries has to stop. Looking at day one there is nothing I really fancy. I'll have a bet. Minimum stakes.and don't get me started with the bookies, robbing c#nts.
