Just before Christmas last year, he was one defeat away from being sacked. The fans were boing at Ashton Gate. Polls wanted him out etc etc. Tonight was **** with a capital S but don’t forget we’ve been on poor runs with loads of managers and Nige was no different
What is so wrong with us, is Liam out of his depth in this division or do we just have lousy players that nobody can get anything from as we have seen for several seasons? The entire set-up isn't anywhere near close to being able to compete and we have deficiencies all over the field from the front line to the goalie but the scariest thing to me is that nobody has a clue, or desire, to fix the problems. All of the recent player imports are not meeting the required standard to stick with a decent team and that is perhaps why they came our way regrettably. I reckon that the Lansdowns have made another booboo that could easily put us in danger of the drop because for all the usual reasons we are failing badly to hit the target set by them, and they apparently are more than to look the other way which must be difficult when your head is so far up the back passage. Honestly I see difficult times ahead and a couple more losses before the January window, which we will probably pass on, will leave us with a twitchy feeling that we don't need or deserve.
I see you don’t ask Red Robin the same… We haven’t had much to be positive about for about 4-5 years now tbh
We got better, (we couldn't have been worse), when the 3 subs came on at 2 down. Was it the subs who made us better or were Blackburn happy to sit ? Probably a bit of both. I will have a go at Manning in the way, I presume it was his orders, for Max to kick long for the first hour. Unbelievable it just kept coming back. Amused at Wells comment Robins TV. Our pressure late on and Dickie stays up. 'That's right Max hit it right.......Dickie's on the left'. Made I laugh. Tyring to keep positive but I'll keep popping at Manning if he doesn't sign a keeper in January.
Personally I'm puzzled, LM has had 5 games only, this week local press has highlighted how players are happy with LM and his different approach to the game but the one common denominator was it will take time for them all to corordinate the changes and results to improve, patience is a virtue and LM deserves that right, LJ,DH,NP are history, LM is the gaffer lets give him time.
I like your faith Wiz but I think a lot of us were at least expecting something different and better but all we see is the same old stuff. It will be interesting to see if we make any moves inward during January window but I reckon we need to shift some stuff outwards.
First 3 subs I could understand, but didn’t understand taking off Knight & Sykes towards the end, when the two were at their liveliest..
Some strange decisions being made by Liam in his starting line-up and substitutions which sound like an echo from the past.
Seems to me he’s tinkering Whether that’s from lack of experience at this level or sussing out what does and doesn’t work remains to be seen Sunderland are flying so I can’t see anything other than a defeat on Saturday For me that gives LM another 5-8 games to make a difference with the results or we are going to be in real trouble, and so might he be.
To be fair, those 2 were at the heart of everything. Sykes in particular had a lot of quick bursts that drain players, so with 3 games in a week, rotation is essential.
The team is attempting to control possession and build from the back. O'Leary is going long. The two are not the same. Those who (most) are watching more of City than me, is this due to O'Leary's passing ability not being high?
He does hoof long when there are no options, which imo is down to our outfield players moving into space
I get that, but once we scored we dominated, looking for equaliser.......one of those two were likely to get it........not sure I would have taken them off
Observations........ seems from radio interviews and comments on here we are currently in no mans land .... after getting rid of DH WE GOT NIGE ! who then went on a run of winning just 1 game in 13! but DH [ with the 6 from the 2 coach's ] had put enough points on the board to narrowly miss relegation. A later comment from SL was he may have acted a little hastily! 6 games in now and a better, although just slightly better squad available than his first game and very little to show for it, Sunderland last of the " the better crewed teams" we have to play /had to play in a row... [ just Sunderland to come ! ] that will make 7 games with a 2 week period of no games to get to assess the squad! Opinion... think LM is and will struggle players were bought in with 2 aims in mind young/ trainable to NP way and view to sell on. I think things should have been left and the decision if one was needed made at the start of January, dealings done in last half/ week if needed with a new guy? Other teams we are always getting business done early so could work for us to come in late as it would seem we are just after someone at a reasonable price??? ALL uphill now and certainly without a win Saturday moreso!
We really need to start winning. If we don’t and quickly we are going to be pulled into a relegation scrap and we may not get out if it. The lower teams seem to be improving which doesn’t help
