Seeing as we often sniff out the same selection Nass, I've found a very nice chance at Catterick in the 15:50. I've only had 5 naps in Ron's comp, but it'll be 6 tomorrow. Any ideas?
Afternoon, people. Very ordinary days racing today but there is one shining light on Southwell Sands, I believe, later this evening. Shifting Gold (8.10) is a winner this calendar year on both the flat and the level and gets in here on a very lenient looking mark of 53 (his win over course and distance back in January was off 57 and he also went very close, later on, in a competitive Donny handicap off 62). The lovely Amy Ryan takes a further 3 pounds off in the contest and I can see Shifting Gold being tough to beat as a result. 9/2 looks a more than fair quote, methinks. Meanwhile anyone got any views re the old Open Golf??? Can’t believe that my old fave, Ernie Els, is available at 80/1!
Might take a few more hits yet Nass. I only found it doing the replays. Ok I'll give you a clue, it's initials are RB.
Cyc, interestingly I overlooked that horse because of its hike in handicap mark and the draw being less than ideal. Interesting to see how it goes as its been in grand form.
Cyc: Being a Catterick regular it is without doubt a speed track, more often than not on flat and jumps the winner comes from the first 3 as the enter the home straight and this is vital when the going is soft or heavy. I have to disagree with Nass on the draw bias, 5F races you without doubt require a low draw UNLESS the ground is soft or heavy where you need a high draw. 6F and 7F races it is more important to get to the front but if you have a low draw and are fast away all the better! When it is soft/heavy they always come stands side which can make it slightly easier from a high(ish) draw if well away. It is a lovely little course which without doubt suits CD winners.
Also did a small EW lucky 15 on the following. 4:00 Striker Torres 5:00 Kyle Of Bute 7.00 Steel City Boy 9.10 Bonnie Prince Blue Also advise 9.10 Bonnie Prince Blue (5/1 WH, 9/2 elsewhere) 1.5pt win Finished like a train when coming a close 4th. Soutthwell specialist with a record that reads 4 1 4 2 1 4 2 1 3 3.
Nass/Cyc: You are i believe both 'Sand' lovers where i am not however there is an interesting sort running tonight in the 710. I shall give you 5 mins to have a check
Prescient was desperately disappointing. Missed the break slightly and had to race at the back which she didn't seem to enjoy. When called upon for an effort she really didn't seem keen to race at all. Shes out again on turf on sunday so I'll stick with her once more and hopefully some headgear of cheekpieces will be fitted to get her focused on the job. I'll have another look at the race an re-evaluate
Nass: the top one is related to a nice juvenile winner. There has been bits and pieces for it but was hoping for the dead 8 which we do not get!! May have to leave the race alone, like Tom Dascombe and his horses look like they are coming out of the doldrums again.
I'm with Nass Gaz. But the unraced two and number 2 might be each way shots. But the favourite should easily win.
Cyc: With reference tothe 350 Catt tomoz mate, i would not consider your selection due to the going. It is currently gd/soft on course and we have had gentle showers all day. There is plenty more up there so it could even go softer mate
Something very odd going on in the 3.20.... Brabazon 5.5 on exchanges, 9/4 with the bookies and been shorter....
I have picked out these two as well Wayward together with Mojolika in the 3.30 at Beverley and Tourist 3.40 Brighton for a yankee. I had a real nearly day yesterday as Robin Hoods bay let me down by 1/2 a length for a complete yankee. Just missed out on one last week as well with Mijhaar at the Newmarket meeting. Both ridden by Neil Callen coincidentley but have no issue with him in either race, maybe today. I mainly bet in singles but cannot resist the odd yankee.
