What a result yesterday, i backed every winner and plan to retire tout-suite to a rather palatial bunker in Monaco. Whats that noise...ah the alarm clock....reality bites.
I had one winner no placed horses and just about broke even. The lucky last and the lovely Rebecca. What a fantastic day though, the sun shone and the Mullins fan boys ripped the bookies apart. Fair play to them. I couldn't believe my eyes when Fanny fell, that must have saved the bookies an absolute fortune. I did have a chat with a Mullins fan boy who was absolutely convinced like the geezer in Dan's boozer that Ruby was paid off by the bookies. So let's get this straight, he got a bung (£5 million was this chaps assertion) and thought I'll make the buggers sweat, I'll ease Fanny 6 lengths clear just before the last and then fall off.
It's just one of those unexplainable things in racing. I don't think it was Ruby's fault, the horse just misjudged the fence for whatever reason. It's a real shame for punters as the bookies would have been running for cover had that gone in
Just watched the replays and there was a fair bit of scrimmaging around the last corner in a number of races including the Mares. AP got barged into. Happened well before she fell mind. Douvan got knocked sideways too so that was a very impressive performance given his lack of experience.
No winners, 5 placed horses though at 33/1, 40/1, 9/1, 25/1 and 10/1. Turned out to be one of my best Festival days from a punting perspective. I invested heavily in the eway punt on God's Own because I was convinced that was the winner and just wanted insurance, turns out UDS is a monster!! Also collected a lump because I did silly little eway Lucky 15's and 31's plus a couple of small eway doubles - if Gevrey Chambertin had bagged a place yesterday, we would be talking telephone numbers. I told the lads who I normally go to the races with who I fancied and why. Some of them followed and thanks to those beauty's getting placed I have breakfast and a day on the p**s paid for by my boys
I've seen a few pictures and it looks like the low sun created a shadow and it appears that she jumped the shadow as opposed to the hurdle. Makes sense to me. Still can't believe she fell though..
