I'm not upset with a 2-1 defeat at villa, especially considering how we played. I don't think Huddlestone is playing bad either BUT I have always thought that it was really risky to build a team around one player. Unless he's James Rodriguez or something. Huddlestone can't be the only one creating. He can ping a good ball but I actually don't think he's a real playmaker. He's too slow and static so relies. completely on touch/pass. We need a Cam player like a young Koren or Geovanni. Skill, bursts of speed, vision and a good strike. Aluko's been tried and doesn't really work. Not sure the likes of Brady or Quinn are good enough for that role. That's the player we're missing along with a pacey offside trap striker which we should have in the form of Hernandez. Snodgrass was probably going to be that player but we need to replace him now
Sir Ben, start slow, make shapes of the letters , then pronounce your letters. It'll come to ya. Or p.m & I'll read it to you
THUD is past it, there is a reason he hasn't played for England for 8 years. He is good for us because we are trying to get better and we have to start somewhere. Could it be that we regard him as good because we dont know any better?
Jesus; one **** game from the fella (which he admitted himself) and suddenly we've got people binning him off? We all had him on the plane to Brazil last season.
I Think the guys are the victims of 2 things A) the 352 system, not a fan and certainly shouldn't start it every game IMO B) injury to Snoddy. Someone mentioned they're jack of all trades, but maybe they're having to be simply because Snoddy is now out. If they had that other creative player there, they could probably play their more natural games.
It needed Brady on for Quinn , trying to replace snodgrass with Quinn is pointless Brady is the more creative player
Today aside I do agree there is something missing in the midfield. None of them make forward runs and appear to be too cautious. Actually Meyer used to be the one that was most often taking up advanced positions. Snodders was our answer....should it be Ince? Not sure he is a #10 but he did look good in spells today. Think we have the ability but someone needs to take more risks with Ince dropping back as needed ( with current first 11)
...........................Mac ...elmo.........Davies.....Chester.......Robertson ..........................Diame ..................Jake............Thudd Elmo..............................................Brady .................Hernandez ..............................Jelavic With ince/sagbo/aluko swapping in and out with elmo/brady/jelavic/hernandez and meyler/quinn for jake/thudd/diame Few options
We lost away to Villa is anyone really that surprised? Isn't it really par for the course for Hull? How many away games do we expect to win this season realistically? We won 3 last season so what another 3 or 4 on top of the one we've won already? There's not a team in the division not looking to take all 3 points when we come to visit. Through the season we'll probably lose somewhere close to twice as many as we win (hopefully with a few more wins than the 10 we managed last season). Last season 13 wins against 19 loses and 6 draws was good enough for 11th. With our current squad if we turn up to the party and play well we can beat/take points off of almost anyone in the Premiership (maybe anyone if you look at the Liverpool game last season) but if we play below our very best we're going to get beat more often than not. Someone else said it on another thread but the proof of the pudding will be how well we bounce back from defeats and how many runs of good form we can put together to get us more than the 10 wins and 7 draws we got last time out.
What we need is neither a defensive or attacking midfielder, we need a midfield enforcer, someone who can actually keep the midfield together, something we have lacked since Ashbee
I don't think Brucey needs telling that there's an issue with our midfield, he's desperately trying to sign two midfielders today.
