Papers, especially foreign ones, make this sort of stuff up all the time. Foreign papers also like it to be as complicated as possible and preferably involve player/manager tantrums. Cannot see this happening unless Ramirez couldn't settle or was desperate to get out. He seems a happy soul to me and even said how quickly he's settled. He's recovering from a series of injuries and a family problem...I think we'll see a lot more from him now.
 
I hope you're right Fran, personally I think he's gone off the boil a bit lately, and he was only simmering gently before. Time for him to show us what he's capable of I think.

According to current opinion polls, the ONLY party which represents the views of over 50% of British voters with regard to the EU, is UKIP. Even the Beeb can't ignore that (though it would love to do so).

Of course, the Westminster, 1st past the post, system ensures that UKIP have no MPs. Not many Green MPs either-doesn't prevent them being asked to appear on environmental issues!
 
Returning to the football (subtle hint to take any politics over to Beefys place please), I know that it's annoying to find that the papers don't carry a blow by blow account of how good we were, it's a fact that we got two of our goals due to terrible errors and that the football world is more interested in the bigger picture regarding the likely Champions. I wouldn't ca it lazy journalism. Can we honestly say we cared how West Ham lost matches last year? Would we have cared if we read a match report last season about how West Ham had blown their chances of automatic promotion but not given credit to how the opposition played, if Robert Green had dropped a clanger and Vaz Te scored an own goal? I think not.

Farage is on the BBC far, far more than all the greens put together.

Well then the majority of Brits are stupid. If you went around asking everyone to explain exactly what the EU means for this country and why they like/dislike it, I reckon about 5% would know what they're talking about. It just demonstrates the reactionary nature of the public. They don't like the current economic climate and they have to find someone to point the finger at, and they'd much rather believe that the problem is with the bloody foreigners than with their own lovely country.

On the football side of things, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Ramirez go to Fiorentina. I don't think it'd be much of a problem for us either, as long as we recoup what we paid for him.

A bit simplistic and patronising. Might as well ban voting in General Elections too...obviously the public is too stupid. Democracy; don't you just love it!

Well am I wrong? How can you expect people to make educated decisions on our EU membership when they're not educated on the subject? I begrudgingly accept general elections simply because there's no better system available, but there's no denying that our flawed two-party system is largely the product of public ignorance and reactionary voting. I'm certainly not going to support people's right to vote on other things, when most of them don't even know what they're voting for in general elections. I'm not saying that's entirely down to the stupidity of people either - our schools do very little to educate people in politics, and it's actually in the best interests of our political parties that the public remain ignorant.

I tend to find that when people say that the public are too stupid to vote , what they really mean is that people have a different opinion than them so must be stupid. I actually find that sort of attitude pretty ignorant and patronising. What do you want, an exam you have to pass before you're allowed to vote?
