And now the Hollywood luvvies are gushing about a 2020 presidential run for Oprah Winfrey. Ye gods - have I stepped into some Idiocracy in a parallel universe?
Just mental! It's all such a horrific mess over there it's difficult to know where to begin. Get rid of orange45 and that just lets in a whole raft of ultra conservative, religious, science denying, rich gits.... all waiting for the rapture and the second coming.
There was a grown up sensible discussion on this week last night about the numerous successes of Trump in the last year once the fluff around his tweets is ignored. He is the democratically elected leader of our greatest allay. His position as President should be respected and he should be afforded the usual welcome and respect as a visitor to this country.
I kind of agree SH. He is the President and I want him to do well (even though I don't have a vote yet). He is a hugely divisive figure, but there again so was Obama (I wanted him to do well also). Trump really needs to law off the Twattery - he just gives political opportunity to his detractors with some of his outbursts. As for the UK visit - I think it's the right decision. Rent-a-perceived-grievance would come out in force and would be a huge distraction. And who wants to visit Vauxhall anyway? I used to work there and despite some recent work it's still a bit rough around them parts.
I still can't believe he is in charge of a super-power country. Imagine if he drank, maybe one saving grace.....maybe!
I'll pick up on the error before anyone else does: I think you mean ally, given that allay means to make less.
Thanks for the correction. It does seem almost impossible to have a serious discussion regarding Trump's actual political decisions as his tweeting and loose talk nonsense overwhelms everything.
It becomes a white noise and people tune out. MrsH-F has done so. A tactical effort no doubt. That said he is still, and surrounded by, racists, bigots, homophobes and science deniers. Conservative Unctuous Nepotistic TwatS
The guy is a walking PR disaster for the US. How anyone can seek to defend him is beyond me. His country is in a state and he is alienating himself from the majority of his own citizens. A an example of the folly of so called democracy.. Sent from my G3121 using Tapatalk
Trumps views were well known before and during the presidential election. He retains much support in certain areas of the US. He will eventually be judged on the economical performance during his period of control. So far they look quite promising but he is such a maverick who knows what will happen in the next few years.
Conversely, PR disasters also work to increase his base support. When people who play dress up and pretend for a living wag fingers and lecture the masses it causes a backlash. And quite frankly I am not surprised. People are getting sick to back teeth of Hollywood lecturing on what is best for us all when they live in their own little bubble of excess and debauchery. I give not one **** for their views on any subject. And when he's getting ridiculously blamed for the false air attack warning in Hawaii by some - he's getting sympathy from others. Throw in the recent hurricanes, forest fires, terror attacks and anything else that can possibly be thrown in his direction. They call it Trump Derangement Syndrome and quite frankly it's getting silly. As with most Presidential reigns - it will come down to the economy. If he gets that right there's a good chance he will get reelected. Americans like to bicker about race, but in the end the colour that matters most to them is GREEN.
sensible post, who knows how it will work out but he is only carrying out his ideas during the election especially about putting the US first which after all is the priority of his job. Isn't the unemployment rate for black people the lowest for ages? Reagan had lots of bad press when he started and he turned out to be one of the more successful Presidents. He does not help himself by saying things in public that others say in private.
