Off Topic Trumpers

The man is a total danger to everyone. My next door neighbour has a home in the States, and he tells me there is one question on every bodies lips. Will the bullet hit or miss?

I just hope that Britain will line up the promised wonderful free trade deal before he is impeached for some impropriety.:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Seems to me that the man is an idiot - he apparently plans to go ahead with the Mexican Wall. His plans include the tripling of "enforcement and removal operations/agents" and 5000 extra Custom and Border Protection personnel. You'd think with that lot the wall wouldn't be necessary...

Mind you, the Mexicans will probably be relieved that he won't be able to sneak over the border one night...

As regards the wall, apparently he can say with 100% security that Mexico will pay for it - and if they don't (which appears the logical outcome) what will happen then ? It is believed that he will stop all attempts by Mexicans to send money home to their families - that there would be, in effect, no money moving between the 2 countries. He then says that the estimated 11 million Mexicans in the USA would be out of the country so fast your head will spin. But if they are all gone, who will attempt to send money home - and why should Mexico care ? His logic baffles me and leads me to believe that his supporters have a lot of dissapointments on the way - how they react will be interesting.

Talking about free trade with a guy who doesn't believe in free trade must be like talking to the flat earth society. Doesn't it worry you a little that he has promised to place a 35% tariff on Chinese imports to protect American jobs ? Methinks a trade deal with him would be a very one way affair.

Science and reason are up for one hell of a fight under the Trump administration. We now live in the Orwellian world of “alternative facts”, which are like facts, but bullshit. It’s surely only a matter of time before the Ministry of Truth is set up.

Right off the bat, controversial oil pipelines have been resurrected on the very same day Trump claimed to the automobile industry that he’s an “environmentalist.” References to climate change have been eradicated from the White House website, with orders for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to follow suit. Clean power plans have been scuttled, various scientific agencies are having their Twitter accounts censured, and scientific funding is being bled dry.

Now, as internal memos published by BuzzFeed have revealed, federal scientists were also briefly muzzled from speaking about their work with the press.

The EPA, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Transportation and the National Park Service – all of which contain thousands upon thousands of taxpayer-funded scientists – were told a few days ago to cease and desist any form of communication with the public and the media when it came to their research.

Although still allowed to publish in scientific journals, any reference to their work in any other form would have been banned. News releases, photographs, infographics, fact sheets, and any social media content on Facebook, Twitter, and elsewhere would be prohibited in any form, according to the memos.

They did not explicitly reference President Trump or his new administration, but this is the only authority such a widespread gagging order could have originated from. However, at the time of writing, the administrator of the scientific wing of the USDA rescinded this muzzling order.

There’s no update as of yet on whether or not the other federal agencies have decided to fight back against this information suppression.

Trump and a Post-Truth World
by Ken Wilber

The election of Donald Trump is an evolutionary self-correction that has been decades in the making — a backlash against the failure of the leading edge of consciousness (postmodernism and pluralism) to acknowledge the lie underlying the progress they’ve pursued: it’s not equal, it’s not consistent, and it doesn’t make room for everyone. But a new integral force is emerging that can move beyond the narcissism and nihilism of political correctness to offer genuine leadership and move towards a developmental-based wisdom of greater wholeness
