My dad was a lifelong Labour voter. When he said who he was voting for, he always referred to the party, not the Labour Prime Minister or Labour leader. Then when I asked him who he was voting in 2015 he said 'not sure, Labour have sold out, might vote for Farage'. I think the media play a big role in portraying our system as a de facto presidential system where your vote is directly cast to the party leader, rather than their local MP.

 

Yes - I have heard it used in recent months also, but rarely by the BBC or many other mainstream media.
The Labour Party has been infiltrated/ hijacked by a section of the left (mainly Momentum) who have ruthlessly booted out all internal dissenting parties who hold traditional/centrist views. Hence the antisemitic stench, the refusal to recognise it, the harassing of Jewish MPs, the revolving door shadow cabinet .
Some purists/idealists see this as some sort of spiritual renewal/rebirth of the real Labour Party, but many of the leading lights are basket cases who the wider public will never elect as a government in a million years.
Momentum and co seem to care not a jot about electablility - hence my comment about hijacking/sabotage from within. They are are condemning the Labour Party to eternal Opposition status and thus facilitating the rise of UKIP.

 

It's not the case in Scandinavia where it is less partisan and there's more cross-party cooperation.

Together with the corporatisation of the world, so any government is merely a better manager than the other/s. People don't come into the equation. It's all about employment of rentier capital and the returns on the same.
