Deffo not worth a punt? His record seems decent and he seems to have pace and power. Genuine question, what did you see in him that you didn't like.
I wouldn't go as far as 'deffo not worth a punt' but it depends on price. He's 25, he's big and strong and knows where the goal is- Pros He can be lazy and disinterested, has a good recent record but before that was pretty much unknown- Cons. For £2-3m, it would be a really good buy imo. For £4m+ I don't think it's worth it.
If (and i stress if) you have to go through the play offs you'd be happy to have him with you rather than against you
Is that a bad thing? IMO its better that his records from last two seasons are good rather than the way we use to bought players with paying lot of money to someone who scored a lot 7-8 yrs ago......

any signing we make now should be with a view of playing in the PL and championship. its stupid to sign another henry who wed have to sell if we went up.
I agree but the sort of fee and wage a player like Deeney would command would be that of a more proven player. His stats this season are a bit misleading too given how well he started the season.

who's saying buy PL strikers. buy players good enough for both divisions. not ones who would need to be replaced in 5 months time if we go up. eg Rhodes. we could also set the wages depending on which division we are in, then wed only pay PL wages if we went up.
You can never be sure who player would make the grade in the prem. For example Grant Holt and Lambert who would thought they could score such amounts goals on the highest level?

If PD's report is anything to go on, then I'm happy with this signing. 25 is still not fully at peak age. Must admit I dont really know much about him, but I do have an inside line to Watford...(my brother) I'll send him a msg and se if I can get any truth behind this.
