Looks like Troy's on his way to Norwich with the rest of the Watford team - not sure Hull is the sort of team he'd go to anyway - if he were to go it'd probably be to a Midland club.
To use the house metaphor you could add c) where the house is located, i.e. Long is in the premier league and is therefore more appealing to people wanting to stay in the nicer area. And yes, I realise that I've made the metaphor slightly laboured haha
Losing troy for a fair price as of now is bad, but for him to be sold to Norwich with the rest of the team is a nightmare ,will we try and loan them back for a small fee and how would hollowhead feel about that lol
Excerpt from Steve Bruce press conference; He says he is looking for "three or four" new signings - but not Welbeck or Van der Vaart. "We have irons in the fire for an instant replacement (for Shane Long)," adds Bruce ruled himself out from Welbeck, but not Deeney.
May well have been - but if I was Troy I'd be thinking long and hard about what Bruce said only a few days ago - http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...k/news/bruce-rules-out-deeney-bid_170293.html "Before we signed Shane Long and Nikica Jelavic, we had a little nibble then, but that's all it was. This year, no, not interested"
Why would Troy want to go to a club who will clearly struggle in the Prem and likely to get relegated. Especially given all the interest in him - all this does to put the price up for the team he is likely to go to namely Leicester I'm afraid.
Surely Leicester have to be far more likely to be relegated than Hull who survived comfortably last season?
http://www.sportinglife.com/footbal...ews-steve-bruce-wants-up-to-three-new-players Hull looking to invest the £12.5million from the sale of Long in three new players. I'd say that confirms that Deeney won't be going there...
No I think Leicester have more chance than Hull and they're a midlands club which is where Deeney comes from. I can't see how Hull could afford him if they want other players too. Leicester have more resources than Hull are a bigger club and more attractive all round to Deeney.
Pacey? No. And reads the game poorly at times. An excellent championship player who is very overpriced and probably isn't good enough for the prem.. For £10m we'll bite your hand off!
I see the situation as for Deeney it would be best to stay, score 25 goals (must be an internal competition between Vydra and him to see who scores most goals in a full season) get promotion with Watford and both he and Vydra would then get a shot at the Premier on the grass instead of getting splinters. If it's not going well in the January window there might be some player motivation to jump ship and get a shot elsewhere but it really is on the players shoulders to not get into that scenario. Any transfer will be driven by the financial considerations and there is a price obviously that the club would have to accept for common sense reasons, its probably North of 12 million and rising every day we get closer to deadline day.
Good post Aberdeen - agree entirely. It is a nice position to be in as it is clear that Troy is not angling for a move and that the owners are not after a quick buck. Changed days indeed!
the problem as I see it is his wages would be 2 or 3 times higher and a new 3 year contract it sets him up for life . and most of us would take it. but if we go up then he can stil get all of that with us
Stupidity all round. Us for bidding that much and you for rejecting @RobTannerMerc: LCFC have had a third bid for Troy Deeney rejected. £10 mill rising to £12. Deeney not for sale at any price. #lcfc
