I know From the Rookery End podcast have mentioned our relationship with him a few times, but I haven't heard about anything dodgy done by the club directly (although it would be better if they distanced themselves from him). I think anyone watching us last season would realise no one had to pay us to fix Watford to lose!

Vast amount of speculation there. Match fixing? Who is suggesting this has anything to do with Watford? This reads like someone who is looking for some news and then using it to have a go at Pozzo.

He had a court case in 2023 relating to fraud and money laundering in Belgium but don’t think it’s related with us .

But guess we might be guilty in association ?

The match fixing accusation relates to a game between Anderlecht and Club Brugge in the 2017-18 season (according to Lou Orns' article). He suggests that there is a problem relating to the signing of Obbi Oulare by Watford. Unfortunately, this issue would appear to be more than speculation if Bayat's associate, Daniel Kimoni, is to be believed.

At best, it does not show the club in a favourable light. At worst, it could could lead to serious consequences for Watford. Mogi Bayat will go on trial in Belgium in February 2023. We shall have to wait to see what happens (as Markthehorn writes), but it is a worrying development.

I am not sure how much alleged match fixing there is being accused but think it’s more to do with him being involved in suspicious transfers and money around those .

Unlike on other forums who already seem to have the bloke guilty we probably have to be careful on this issue as the court case is still to happen of course .

But Bayat is the agent to a lot of our players so there is a strong connection there atm .

Scott Duxbury was asked about Bayat in the summer - only had positive things to say and naturally stayed clear of these allegations.

I think the biggest worry for now is the fact we were the 7th highest team in the country for paying agents which surely isn't a good thing for a club like us?

I am no financial expert but should we be worried we keep taking out these loans or just normal practise ?

Might be a good deal if the value of Sterling rises to previous levels.

When I had a business I had an agreement with the bank for a £1M loan. I had no intention of ever using it, and didn't, but always thought about it as my rainy day loan. Not saying that the same applies here, but to be prepared for a cash flow shortage is fairly prudent.
