I would flip this round and say is this really bad behaviour? Supporting your team? Certainly wouldn't bother me although my values are pretty old school so this might be the reason why. We have no history or rivalry with Everton why shouldn't our fans be able to mix? I see that as 1 of the main reasons the country is on its arse as you put it, the fact people can't mix these days and get along without stupid and pointless violence and aggression. Not going off on world peace or any bollocks like that but to me, fans mixing when there's no rivalry isn't and shouldn't be a problem!
If you are likely to cheer when your team scores don't sit in with the opposing fans, I know people who've sat in the opposing end at Derby matches but they knew not to celebrate when their team scored. I would never sit in the opposing end because I don't trust myself.
I've been in a couple of home ends in my day, mixed results. Wigan, good craic with suprisingly loud fans, lost 1-0. WBA, had a hoot with the baggies lads, they even backed us up when stewards were gonna move us, had a good session on the beer with them after. Lost 3-0. Burnley, nearly killed. 1-1. Tranmere (several times), they came to expect it of us, and were top lads and lasses, my soft spot remains delighted Ronnie Moore has got them playing.
Those two could easily have been arrested for S.5 of the public order act. Yet they got what they wanted by putting them with other fans. I can't look at that man in the picture above.
not dissing your souces mate but there's a lot of chinese whispers go round where football violence is concerned. all that said, I abhorr any kind of violence in any kind of scenario.
