The only club that has appeared at Wembley on several occasions over the past decade and played a series of meaningless games.

They'll get Coventry in the play offs snd will get battered.

Sunderland are in a tedious position of being assured of the plays offs, not having no chance of automatic promotion.

Plus the top 3 teams are significantly ahead, and whoever finishes 3rd of them will be the favourites.

Although I'd love to see them back, the standard has risen significantly since they were last here, and they'd be annihilated by everyone.

They are dying inside. A lower league club that has qualified for Europe once and fluked an FA Cup win 52 years ago. The only thing of note that club has done in the last 50 years is knowlingly play a child sex offender to desperately try and stay in the PL. Smug etc cheered it on knowing what crime was committed and actually tried to defend it. I digress.

Last time I checked, winning the league cup means you qualify for Europe and the clubs that have won it over the last decade - Man City and Liverpool primarily. Winning the Papa John's trophy means you beat league one and two sides and the U21's of PL and Championship. That isn't even an achievement.

Lastly, they are 4th in the Championship. I hope they go up just because that group of players they have will get pummelled every week in the PL.

Whilst I’ve always wanted to see them go close and fail (as miserably as is humanly possible) part of me would actually love to see them getting battered every week! They’re always bleeting on about how they reckon they’d do against teams that we’ve beaten week in week out, the reality is they would literally need to buy a whole new starting 11 and some to stand and any chance of even making out of the bottom 3. They may even break their own embarrassing record of their monumental 15 point haul in the 05-06 season when they went down that year. Having finished 16th (highly ****ing embarrassing in itself) last season they could do with a trip to the capital again for a wash in the traffy fountain again I suppose.

Of course he wouldn't understand it. He's a Mackem. How is he supposed to understand a sentence that contains both 'sports' and 'washing'. Give him some slack.
