You actually download episodes of yellow (badly drawn) cartoon people on Monday mornings? Life can't get any rosier for you, methinks. Do you have Homer Simpson socks, pyjamas and boxer shorts, perchance?
Nope, it's just 20mins of entertainment. Simpons + spliffs on a monday night after a ****ty day at work is quite a relief. You really having a go at me because I called OFAH ****? I didn't grow up with it, I've watched it after it's time, and I'm sorry it's ****ing weak.
I'm surprised you don't like Only Fools, Toby. It represents the downtrodden lower classes, and it has featured asylum seekers, black folk, gay folk and even people with speech impediments, so it really is quite diverse. As for the Simpsons, I do watch it with my eleven year old son, but I find it to be a little lacking in maturity and comedic worth. But, hey, what I do know? I have the entire collections of Hancock's Half Hour and Steptoe, so you could say I'm an old fart living in a bygone era. Anyway, I would never have a go at you; it is not in my nature to do so.
Cant argue by saying it is crap! It must have something cos it tops alot of comedy polls! Just not my cup of tea, and by the time its finished im exhausted!
A close to Fawlty Towers (in a hole stop digging sense) modern comedy is Worst Week Of My Life, absolutely loved that and when I watched the DVD with my mate who hadn't seen it, he damn near pissed himself.
Family Guy's ****e and The Simpsons hasn't been good since the last millennium. And for ****s sake, people, grow up.
Fawlty Towers is/was a class comedy, yet, like Phoenix Nights and The Office, it thankfully finished before the joke wore thin. For me, Porridge is the behemoth of all sitcoms. Ronnie Barker was the master, followed closely by Leonard Rossiter and Tony Hancock. The best comedies of recent years are Summer Heights High, Alan Partridge and a fair bit of Friends. Just my humble opinions.
Poridge was different class. I also really liked Ever decreasing Cicles - he wasnlt everyone's cup of tea but Richard Briers really could act.
Ronnie Barker made Open All Hours! Without him it would have been quite poor because often the scripts were quite weak but his performance made it lie somewhere between watchable to very good! It rarely made me laugh out loud, i just loved watching his performance!
