The club recognised that if the chance occurred for him to play for his boyhood dream club they didn't stand in his way - this was a way of thanking him for all he has done in the journey from league one to the premiership - he will of course be missed but we hold so many happy memories of his time with us - good luck Lambo....
Few teams could lay claim to the unity that Saints have enjoyed for the last few years. It must have been pretty damn hard for Rickie to walk away from the club that he has played such a huge role in transforming. Personally, I look at the bigger story here and see something truly special. To be able, on his retirement, to look back and tell this tale is Magic. I for one will always see him as a saint in that England shirt and I will be a Lambert supporter whenever he steps on the turf except when he takes his first penalty against Saints and then I'll be so happy to see him miss it : )
A pint says that by Christmas you're back in here telling us how good he is and £4m was a steal and you want to have Rickie's babies.
